Same team next week - give Gobern some game-time. No , same formation Hogg in for Oscar who as already mentioned was our poorest performer on a day of outstanding performances UTT I think that you are in a minority and most people agree on here that he had a good game. Drop him now and you might as well ship him out - he'll be lost for ever. Powell has to get the best out of every player including squad players. They play well and you keep them in.

Never said he had a bad game mate just was the poorest performer imo 6/10, Hogg is a key player and has had a fine season leave him out at your peril

I can see your point but Hogg doesn't deserve to be left out after his performances prior to the harsh second yellow that led to his suspension today. Hogg to replace a far from poor Gobern for me.

I think Gobern has to stay in, good performance in a win. Powell needs to be consistent.

Looked every inch a championship player. We may get some offers for this lad, if he can't hold down a place with us.

Ha! I agree that Hogg is integral this year and very important but I think Powell needs to reward performances, Gobern has bided his time and he did well today, If I was manager I'd want to recognise that by keeping him in. It's not like we're gonna continuing winning every game, so he'll have opportunity to put Hogg back in soon enough. If he drops him, it sends out the wrong message to the squad.

Thing is with Gobern, he always shows for the ball whether he is having a good game or not. He never hides and can break up play and put important challenges in as with the second goal.
The midfield functioned far better than of late with Coady doing something we've nor really seen him do much of, as in travelling with the ball and driving forward!
Whether that's down to formations or the inclusion of Gobern, I'm not sure but it doesn't matter to me- much as I like Hogg, Gobern keeps his place for me!!!

As good as Gobern was today I think Hogg will play against Boro.
Powells pre match comments.
"Sadly we’re missing Jonathan Hogg. He’s a huge miss, which I’m not afraid to say. I feel he’s shown people – myself included – what sort of player he is. He’s very influential with and without the ball and I really like his intensity. I think he’s very underrated and effective. He dovetails very well in the middle with Conor Coady and Jacob Butterfield.
“We’ll have to tweak things now and be slightly different in our approach. We’ll need the players we have out there in midfield to be disciplined, because normally Jonathan defends both boxes."

I specifically watched Gobern today and thought he was one of our better players. That said I'd still put Hogg in ahead of him.

Should he keep his place? He deserves a chance. players can change under different managers as we've seen with scanz and Hogg. He did a excellent job of breaking up play today. there's still parts of his game to improve on, but lets not forget how long he's been out for.

If people thought Gobern was our worst performer then IMO they are letting their previous opinion on him cloud their judgement of today's game. Thought he did really well, particularly in breaking play up. Passing was a bit off at times as to be expected having not played much.

I just don't get Gobern, perhaps he will develop into a modern day Carlton Palmer but at the moment he just gives the ball away far too much whenever I see him play for us. He must do something right in training as manager after manager seems to pick him. I would have Hogg ahead of him every week based on our current squad but perhaps in a couple of years he'll be the more finished article.
