First half he was very good. Second less so, looked shattered after 70 mins.
Man of the match is perhaps a bit kind. Wells and Lynch were the star performers.

Played well today and overall he's a decent player, sadly due to injuries we havn't seen enough of him. I won't be too upset if he starts at Forest.

As President of The Official Oscar Gobern Fanclub - I was made up for the gangly hero today. Have said it for years (and he he has been around the place for years now, like a sandwich toaster or a bread maker. Seemed like a good idea at the time but now gathers dust). that he passes the ball better than anyone in the squad. But even as Fan Club Member number 001 I have to realise his batteries only last 65 minutes. Then those legs go all Bambi like and his mistakes are magnified.
I'd love us to keep him and he's certainly never let any of the managers down who he's played under - but is Powell willing to let him have a run in the team. Worked wonders for Lazarus Scannell.

If he could play like that every week then it would be like having a new player, even played the ball forward today, looking for the killer pass. Would you drop Hogg for him though? To be honest, he always plays like that. Simple 10 yard defence splitting passes are his forte. Trouble is, the often go unnoticed whereas if he slips of his long gangly legs he gets castigated for it for days. He's not a bad player. I've always felt that Oscar suffers from what I think of as 'Peter Crouch syndrome' in that with his size and gait he looks very ungainly and any mistakes he makes look much worse than what they are, which belies his actual ability as footballer. As you say he's not a bad player and unlike some of the other players we've let go recently I still think he may have something to offer.

Thought he was terrific today, particularly in the first half. Has to get a new contract for me.

Best player on the pitch in the first half, put himself about well and used the ball well. Faded second half partly down to us not having as much of the ball and partly I would think down to match fitness. Man of the match probably Wells for me but Lynch, Butterfield, James and Scannell also played very well, Scannell's work rate was outstanding he gave absolutely everything today.

He's a good cultured midfielder, sprays the ball about with ease. Cant knock him to be fair today. Offered a hundred percent more to the team than what edgar does in midfield

It'll cost more to replace Gobern than it would cost to retain him.

Always thought he's a decent player, been very unlucky with injuries here.

You have to be cautious when someone's playing for a contract, and really it'll never be enough considering this is his fourth season here.
Whether it's worth keeping him will depend on his wage demands. I can see him staying.

Oscar has been one of the unluckiest players I've seen at HTFC. He's always shown flashes of ability, but due to having glass ankles he's never had a proper run in the side, and when he's often been put in he's been half fit and then dropped or injured the next game. The only extended run he's had in the side was 2 years ago under Robins, where he was a key player in the run in and helped us stay up. A lot of people on here were effusive of the praise for Gobern and said he was well worth a new deal...
The problem is the injuries and lack of natural fitness. Do we keep him and use him sparingly (often where he struggles due to lack of match sharpness)? Or do we cut him free and push Billing?

It'll cost more to replace Gobern than it would cost to retain him. Powell might be tempted to give him a 12 month deal with the club able to opt for a second year? He's never let Powell down to be fair.

Thought a couple of years ago this lad would go on to be one of our key players. Due to injuries and bad management it's never really happened but I hope today hints Powell in the right direction regarding a new contract.

If only Vaughan (I think) had spotted him in acres of space instead of predictably going into the Scannell corner again, and we'd have won by two and not had a panic every time our time wasting / possession ran out.

He gets some stick on here. At least he tries for find a bloke in a Huddersfield kit, unlike some of our more preferred players

Gobern was our MOTM today. Top performance and actually looked like he knew what he was doing in the middle, unlike a certain other lump we've got on loan.

He did well 1st half but his aerial ability is lacking and was outpaced, as will always be the case, in a few Ipswich breaks 2nd half. Coming from a very low rating he did much better today but no way m.o.m. Wells work rate just won him that vote, but all 11 played in the manner all fans wish could be the case in every game. A splendid result and performance. Heard Powell may not stay next year and his subs dithering was nearly costly again.

i dunno. I think Gobern did a lot of good things for us today that went un-noticed. Didn't look out of place in the middle at all, and his passing was virtually spot on all game.

Offered a hundred percent more to the team than what edgar does in midfield They are completely different players. Edgar is played in midfield to do a totally different job than Gobern, hopefully Gobern can secure the midfield role when Hogg is out.
