If we are looking to move forward as a club then signing Hanson is just wrong. Hope to god this is just bollocks.

James Mason of City has just been on 5Live saying that the Chelsea game's £420k windfall means they don't need to sell Hanson: We won't get him without paying silly money. James Mason? Huddersfields finest...must be talking from beyond the grave?!

I wouldn't mind him. Him and Nahki worked well in league 2, big man little man might work.
We can do much worse thats for sure

We might as well face facts, we have to do our fishing in the league one pool and below. We just aint got the financial clout to take on the big boys.

Said it before, when we have Vaughan and Wells on the books the only strikers we will get in are either young kids we are taking a chance on or loan deals.
A club of our standing cannot afford three "big name" strikers on permanent deals just to sit one or more on the bench when they are all fit.

Maybe we should put in a bid to Bradford for Jon Stead!

As he ripped Aston Villas defence to shreads, what makes you think he wouldn't get anything from Championship defences? To be fair lots of the Cambridge players are ripping man utd to shreds.. don't mean they would be good enough to consistently play at championship level You are right, it doesn't, but it doesn't mean they couldn't.

Their managing director said in radio due to cup that they didn't now need to sell him to a champs club & he could instead help them in a late bid for promotion.
Could be bidding up the price but doubtful they'd piss off their own fans with such deceitful comments.
They'll want as many of the 6000 whole went today to turn up at Colchester at home next week and the rest of their league games.
At the same time we don't want to be paying over the odds for a lower league stop gap player.
I'd be very very surprised put it that way.

Hanson isn't leaving Bradford City this is just a sad thread someone's created, I can reassure that Bradford would not sell and he's staying his two years plus on his deal. ignore this attention seeker.

We don't need a "target man" the non sense that "wells can't play with his back to goal" was dismissed once and for all yesterday as wells played like an experienced Andy Booth! Winning flick ons and hold up play we're all excellent! He was my mom, we need more players like him up front! Not james hanson!

We've let them have Stead for free, that deal is done, there is no going back on it from what I've been told.
If we then pay good money for Hanson, who is nowhere near the player Stead is/was, we'll look like we don't know what we're doing.
Powell will want someone with proven Championship achievement if he is going to lay out cash, as opposed to a loan.
So far he's done a great job IMHO - four off the wage bill with two (?) more to go, and we are on target for our highest place finish for years. He hasn't spent a penny on transfers yet. We'll be well placed to take advantage of all the contracts running out on June 30th in the UK, and maybe Europe.

I wouldn't be fussed if we passed up on JH If text votes provided the platform for the board to act on, Scannell would have long gone, Vaughan would have had his contract paid up 'cos he's a cripple who'll never walk again, we'ed have paid vastly inflated prices and money we don't have for ALF and Chris Wood up front, Clayton would be still playing for us on an enormous salary, and thus we would be top of the Championship... wouldn't we?

Watching the Chelsea-BradC highlights on Saturday evening.....Stead was in total command of City's attack. I heard Hanson's name mentioned just the once....I think he headed the ball.
A Chelsea fan might have wondered why Town would be happy to take Hanson over Stead.

you don't need a big targetman.. true, but its nice to have one in your line up of striking options..
it allows plan b, when plan a has proved totally worthless in a game..
I don't want to see town lumping long, high, hopeful stuff up to a big man as much as I don't want to see it now with Wells and Vaughan but it is a different option and you need them. Long, high, hopeful stuff should never be an option but decent stuff into a big man that gets support or decent crosses into the box for him to challenge for, yes definitely a good option..
The Bradford players worked their arses off to get close to the forwards and therefore it follows were there for the second ball wether the striker wins the challenge or not..

but 9 times out of 10 we do lump it into the box, either from the wings or down the middle ...and all the corners we do nothing with...?
