More likely that Powell isn't being given large amounts of money to spend.

Maybe it's because the fans come across as deluded toy throwing pansies when we don't sign a player that we aren't even interested in signing.
Maybe folk are getting scared of coming to Huddersfield, maybe they think its a bit Royston Vasey-ish.
There does seem to be an obsession with local butchers in the 'catering at the stadium' thread.

Even more likely that he's not gonna mug himself off to appease us morons. That's how we ended up with half this shit squad in the first place. I applaud the man. All in good time.

remember he was told at his job interview here that all dean wanted was him to OVERACHIEVE.... maybe that was because the plan was to reduce the wagebill of all high earners and then sign a Birmingham sub!

looks like we are just getting rid of the average players. Trying to get more quality. He's trying to get one or two strikers in, shows how hard it is as clubs will know we need them, sellers market in January.

More likely that Powell isn't being given large amounts of money to spend. I am sure that CP could sign a few Antony Kayes or Millers, and we could afford them, but we need to be much more careful, thoughtful and cute now.

Maybe we need an adaptation of The Rooney Rule, where a certain proportion of the worlds best players are enforced to play for a black manager.

Under the management of Clark Grayson and Robins we signed players, but now we seem to be struggling. Could it be that Chris Powell is unable to attract the quality of players we need ?
yeah, and how much did we blow with that clown

Wait until the end of the window. There are so many variables involved with signing a player, it ain't like going to the shops. Maybe we are aiming higher with our targets than we have done previously, but are struggling for one reason or another to bring then in. Either way I highly doubt it's anything to do with Powell, out of all the managers we've had under DH, Powell is probably most respected among players.

Whilst it is frustrating, be patient. Not saying we'll sign half a dozen players in the last week but its entirely possible to sign several players within a few days or even a couple at the same time. Chill out and see what happens. I think everyone would rather we sign 1 good player instead of a bunch of shit ones just because it's a bit more to talk about.

I am still sticking with what I have said previously. the squad we have is good enough to keep us up. Ergo, only loan players will arrive in this window. If there isn't a loan striker available that will improve what we have then none will arrive until the summer. there is no point in spending a wadge of cash just to finish a few places higher in the league. And in any case new players don't always improve us - Poyet was a good example of that.

UTT Although Vaughans injury has handicapped us in the transfer market, due to our obvious need for a striker, it may actually help us in getting a decent loan in. It may well inspire a prem club to loan us a player that needs developing in the league below, knowing they will get plenty of opportunities to play.

Yep, they were great days. How I wish we still had a seemingly revolving door with players such as Jon Parkin joining us week in week out.

I remember Trevor Francis becoming the first £1M pound player, it's still too much by todays standards for a footballer, never mind 30 years ago. I guess to pull in the calibre of striker some of our fans are wanting, we'd be paying them about three quarters to a million pound a year. Think about that. A million quid!! Its time the fans backed the owners to halt these ridiculous wages. If we've got a wage structure that we have to stick to, and the result of that is we miss out on a few targets, I'm happy with that.

Surely now is the time to raid Swansea and Cardiff for their top players?

Boo...no signings.....boo....we haven't spent millions......boo......negligent recruitment.......just plain old boo! Folks moan about the cost of football and then want us to spend big money - at this level there's little change out of 500k wages alone for a first team player. 500k pa at this level?!!!! It's bonkers. If no striker is available who can improve us or wants to come or we can afford then we have to get on with it.......that's not the case, and it will be resolved next week!

The signings we made early in the last window (Peltier and Majewski) have barely featured, where as the ones we got in once the season started (Coady, Butterfield, Robinson & Hudson) have featured in virtually every game.
Much better to hang on and get the right one in, rather than panic and bring someone who's just going to end up being a waste of a wage.

Absolutely, but they aren't going to panic buy when we don't secure one of our targets. I'm confident that Powell will have a lengthy list of players that are suitable/realistic targets for HTFC, and he'll work his way down that list if necessary. However, if there is such a list, and everyone on it turns us down, then fook knows what we'll do!

Due to league position of the teams all very winnable but this is Town. You could say preparing for the worst. The board are that cautious that plan B relegation takes priority?

The Powell Rule would make the Rooney Rule redundant I was gonna add that in my post actually, we'd probably need a Rooney rule to get white managers into work then though.
