So much for the muppets saying he was out for 4 months and 'never playing for town again' Its easy to be smart if you don't ever say anything! Powell said 3 days ago he was just hopeful that Vaughan would be back before the end of the season. Lets see him "play" first. He could easily make another 10 appearances this season without really playing... as he did last season. If hes on the pitch he playing, stop digging lad;D

if we are going to do a bit of kidology with Vaughan and the opponents, we really need to make use of him better than we are doing. At the moment we might as well have told them our team sheet after the last game.

Why he does it God knows ..he doesn't need to .. He actually has a brain... And football wise he's quite knowledgable .. I just think he gets bored or something

His inclusion cant have been part of the early opposition team talk , and that must have worked in towns favour especially as we won.

Genuine question - at what point on match-day do the teams find out the line up of their opponents? I doubt anybody knows the opposition team set up until the actual team sheet gets handed in to the referee. I was shocked to see Vaughans inclusion especially as alot of people thought his injury would keep him out until the end of the season.

you have to hand line ups to the ref before 2.30pm.. copies of which go to the opposition, then to the press etc..
powell has handed in the teamsheet as early as 1.15pm this season..
you are allowed to change it for injuries in warm ups, sickness etc obviously...
the above about fooling anyone is all bollox, we could have played Vaughan up front with Hudson and smith in goals if we wanted to..
much better to upset the opposition on the pitch than on a piece of paper..
Vaughan appearing on the team sheet would have probably meant a 5 minute chat from malky and his staff and of course if played properly, one up front can be just as 'troublesome' for opponents to deal with..
its not always who is playing its how they play..

Certanly don't agree with the bolox bit Galpharm. . There are certain " quality " players in every opposition team that need extra attention , and Vaughan comes into that category. Would not suprise me if Wigans pre match tactics totally changed when they realised his inclusion , especially as might have been the difference between town playing a 4 5 1 or a 4 4 2. On the otherhand this was Wigan ,and maybe thought we were shite if listening to skys Charlie Nicholas.

If Vaughan and wells play, the extra attention would then fall on who wigan thought might supply them or support them..we have 3 central midfielders and scannell to think more about then.. we also have the long ball with 2 targets/chasers..
if we started in a 4-5-1 and constantly had butterfield up right near to wells its about the same..
not formations, not players it how its worked..

You mentioned "extra attention " that would have come into play with the inclusion of Vaughan. His inclusion would obviously change the opposition team plan as town would or could introduce a totally different game plan. Vaughan is quality, and is up there with some of the best strikers in this division. Would Wigan have expected town to have played a 4 5 1 if Vaughan had not played, and vital they get the marking right.

sugy.. if we had started with wells, scannell properly as a pair up front and lolley wide it would have been the same approach from the wigan team to playing them..
the doctor waited till the last minute to advise the club and Vaughan about his inclusion..
he proved a distraction for the wigan defenders, but not a great deal more as it happens on the day.
too much made of tactics and team plans to 'deal' with certain players...
shove scannell up the middle, get it to his feet and turned, much more scary than competing with Vaughan for a header well outside the box..
variation is the key probably more than the 'name' on the shirt.

I could pretty much understand Dean Holye feeling a bit ticked off with JV but Nickys almost relentless obsession with him by some is bordering on the bizarre.
