Lots of posts on here recently about Town not being 'competitive'. This encouraged me to have a look at just exactly who/what we're up against, so I considered all the teams who are in this division, and just exactly how many have been in the Greedy League over the last ten years. This would account for top quality players, on top wages, playing to larger attendances and have secured parachute payments to help fund them in the Championship for a minimum of two/three years, with all the experience and infra-structure that goes with all of that. Yes, I know that's a bit of a sweeping statement, but it's generally true. So here you go; of the twenty four teams currently in our league only the following 14 teams have featured in the Greedy League at some stage since the 2004-05 season:- Fulham Cardiff Norwich Wigan Bolton Middlesbrough Charlton Birmingham Blackburn Reading Watford Derby Wolves Blackpool And the 10 who haven't ... Town Miwaw Bournemouth Brentford Ipswich Sheff Weds Nottm Forest Brighton Leeds Rotherham Now consider the investment that's gone into the latter ten over the last few seasons, not ALL of the teams I will grant you. I know it doesn't necessarily prove anything, but it does give some idea of what we're potentially up against.

Of those 14 you mention that have been in the Premiership I would say that at least 5 have accepted where they are now and are using the parachute money to continue to pay the wages of players who weren't good enough to be in the top flight ie they are Championship players (like ours) and are now signing players who wouldn't get in our side - that would be Cardiff, Reading, Charlton, or there simply isn't any money left ie Blackpool and Birmingham.
Some of them are so badly run that we shouldn't be fearing them at all eg Bolton who splash the cash on has been players like Heskey and Gudjohsen. Blackburn are another in this bracket.
Of the rest we've already proved we can compete with and beat some of them eg Watford.
Of the group you include us in then what is there to fear from any of them?Brentford and Bournemouth are just on their uppers at the moment, they just have managers who have adopted a fearless approach to this league and look how that's working out for them. The rest should hold no fears whatsoever to us.
So what it proves to me is we are easily good enough to be an upper to lower mid table Championship club that sometimes might flirt with relegation but should also be flirting with the playoffs from time to time. And compete in the bloody cups now and again. All it needs is a bit of belief from inside the club and from the fans. And let's start with stopping all this talk of over achieving because we're not and nor would we be unless we actually did get promoted.
