@scottannear83: he looked every bit as good as he did in the Premier League, why you've got him out on loan I don't know? They deserved it 100% From my mate who's a Chelsea fan.. But I guess these things happen in football. Every dog has his day. It's all about consistency, and how a player fits into a team / system / coaching set up. Hindsight is a wonderful thing I remember a few years ago at the emirates when a certain Alan Lee ran the Arsenal defence a merry dance that day and scored aswell,he looked every bit a world beater but couldnt score for toffee any other day Stead and the other Bradford players seemed well motivated and up for the game against Chelsea. Town also raised their game against both Chelsea and Arsenal, and were so unlucky not to get more out of both F A Cup games games. Amazing how an inch either side of the posts can change a game ,and never forgot that wonder save made by the Arsenal keeper.

Jon stead...... Heroic... Spectacular.... Pure gold... The people's man... The boy with the fast feet... Next England number 9! Wonder if Parkinson could get another Year out of Andy booth? Another important factor to Bradford is how much Steads contribution in that match has earned them, especially if they draw another top premier league club like Man utd in the next round. Think Man utd should beat Cambridge plus the media circus cameras will be out in force in the next round

what a stupid post = stead scored 1 all last season compared to wards 10
gobern has had lots of chances and isn't mobile enough to play in the championship
arfield proved us all wrong last year nobody was fussed when he went- he suffered from a loss of confidence whilst here was as at burnley he knew he was playing everyweek and that gave him confidence

Steady just showed why he's been so good at many clubs, they were fired up, that goal was a one in ten wonder goal, he was given space and lots of time to do his superb assists in the second half. Good luck to a local lad. Totally different to playing week in week out in our league.

How fickle are some.
Anyone wanting Stead to be recalled by Town is an idiot.

The fact of the matter is that both Arfield and Stead, for whatever reasons, did not perform at Town over a decent period of time. Its great that they've moved on and have found some form - I don't begrudge them their success at all.
We can debate why they didn't perform at Town all day, but the fact is they didn't perform and the decisions to let them go were right at time they were made. Anything that has happened since doesn't change that. Obviously the managers they are playing for now are better at getting the best from them, but that doesn't mean Town would have benefited from this more recent good form. Chances are they would have continued to play poorly for us and it is the moves to Burnley and Bradford have reinvigorated their careers.
There are always players who are let go from clubs who go on to prove them wrong. Look at Pogba at Juventus who was allowed to go by Man Utd and is now worth millions. These things happen in football. There is no point going over it all the time. Town, for whatever reason, were unable to get the best out of Stead and Arfield - their new managers can. We have to live with it and move on. And hope the current manager can get the best out of the players we still have.

John Stead was brilliant against Chelsea on the highlights I saw. He is yet another player who was not given a fair chance by Town (second time around). How he could be rated behind a waste of space like Danny Ward I cannot understand. Unfortunately there have been may of them over the years. I think this has lately been caused partly by the size of the squad due to the generosity of the chairman. Another recent example is Scott Arfield. Not good enough for Town but a regular for Burnley in their promotion team and in the Premiership! I fear the next player on this track seems to be Gobern. Think of it the other way round. Rhodes not good enough for Ipswich reserves, Coady not good enough for Liverpool reserves, Bunn and Smith not good enough for Man city reserves.

its one game, its a game the whole team were up for and to go 2-0 down wasn't the worst thing that could happen in that scenario..
Chelsea were half arsed from the start and became even more off it after going 2-0 up.. stead and others got more time and space than they ever get playing Rochdale for example. They are decent players and when given the chance can obviously play a bit. Getting the goals back then turned 11 decent footballers into 11 men possessed and Chelsea lacked the bollox to match it..
I have to give them great credit and Parkinson for their attitude at 2-2, to keep on trying to win the game, fortune certainly favoured the brave..
Jon Stead pressurised and knocked about isn't half the player we saw on Saturday..

John Stead had the game of his life against Chelsea and is doing well in league 1 for Bradford Scott Arfield was terrible at huddersfield under 3/4 different managers but has done well at Burnley Doesn't change the fact town needed to get rid and the same goes for Ward, irrespective of what he does at Rotherham.
