It's about 35 years (1980) since I was in there Nick, will I notice the difference?

It's unlikely to rid itself of its "Asylum" nickname but the false ceiling which has now come down was architectural vandalism and now put right. Until the toilets are completely renovated, I think they probably smelled a bit better 35 years ago. But probably not good even then.

I went into a pub last night fantastic beer & wall to wall crumpet. Tellurideterrier says I went into a pub last night the toilets were fabulous.

Bad toilets = no crumpet Ladies' loos are probably less horrible than the gents', as the lasses tend not to piss on the floor... I bet the ladies' behind the East terrace at Leeds Road, despite looking similar to the gents' (for younger folks, it was basically a brick wall with a gutter behind it), actually concealed a staircase to an underground room with Greek marble flooring and facilities, silk hand-towels, and oil lamps giving off an aroma of lavender...

Not too sure about that, going by what my wife tells me about some of the 'ladies' loos she's experienced.
