LINKI'm pretty sure that they have been here before, perhaps last season? Basically, season ticket holders who do not buy a ticket for the Cambridge FAC replay will be banned for one game - even though they've already paid for it in their season card! Ridiculous!

They agree to it when they buy the ticket.

They agree to it when they buy the ticket. They don't have a lot of choice though, apart from not buying a season ticket. It's a stupid idea.

I agree that they agreed (??!!) but that doesn't make it right. It's moral blackmail. Trouble is, being a billy big bollocks club, they know that they've got their plastic fans by the short'n'curlies.

One of the reasons it's called 'the greedy league', scandalous.

How is your typical Man u fan meant to get from work to Old Trafford in time for Kick -Off? The M25 is near gridlocked at that time of day

Penalise your own best customers because your team performed abjectly. That's worse than refusing to stock pies, then offering a free one for every 5 that your punters buy.
Great business models...

The standard of football they've been offering up of late I reckon more than a few would be happy with a ban.

They do it with the European games too. If you miss a European game you automatically miss the next home game and worse than that, if you lose your card it will cost you £80 to renew, while at their massive neighbours it will only cost you £5, it happened to a mate of mine. A club that treat their fan's in that way don't deserve the support they get.

Wait, so the options are
1. Pay £50 for a ticket to a crappy game, then be able to attend a game against Sunderland that would also likely be crappy because they're so defensive.
2. Save the money and don't go to either, thus missing out on two of the less appealing games in Manchester Utd's season.

Yeah, but having watched Sunderland a couple of times this year, I'd probably take that hit to not have to make it three.

Wasn't it a European game last season, they were as good as out after the away leg then announced anyone who didn't get a ticket for the home leg would be banned from the City game

Good news for Cambridge though as they will get a % of the gate receipts!

and Man U refused to lower the price from £50 to watch Cambridge in a cup replay? The world is beyond mad at times and what's madder is that thousands will pay it

Just supposing for a minute though that in the past the Man U season ticket holders wanted to reserve the right to buy their own ticket for cup matches which meant the club could not sell those tickets to ordinary joe public. So they said ok, you can have that but you have to buy a cup ticket. Oh but then its snotty Cambridge who no one is interested in. I doubt this thread would be here if it were Arsenal or such like, Just saying – I font have any facts on which to base this theory.

It's the usual media bullshit story - it's not all season ticket holders.
They have the option of buying a season ticket which includes the option to buy FA cup tickets - some buy that season ticket holding seats in the stadium - then don't buy the FA cup tickets when it's a shit opponent midweek.
This is a way of making those who said they would buy them - buy them - no matter the opposition.
But of course the way the media reports it - it's all Man Utd season ticket holders and mass hysteria ensues.
Nothing to see here.

Draw Chelsea/Man City/Liverpool at home in the 3rd round and there wouldn't be a peep. If they don't like it, don't bloody buy one!

And as said above, it keeps a bit of financial integrity in the cup for the smaller teams - we benefited by Arsenal's policy on it when we played them a few years ago. Besides, how else can a massively leveraged bunch of mall salesmen afford to spaff £150m to no effect every summer?

Good find. Note it says "may". What they actually do, according to a mate who was a season ticket holder until relatively recently, is suspend your access for one league game (ie, make your seat available to purchase to the big waiting list of folk out there clamouring to get in) ONLY in the event that your seat remains empty for the cup game. If you don't pay for the FA Cup game, your seat is available to buy, and if its sold, you wont suffer the ban. Probably works out quite well for them, given the queue of folk who can't get into a game otherwise.
