Matt Smith
Scoring goals for fun much better than Hanson played in the championship, could be purchased from Fulham and his loan cancelled at Bristol City has got to be worth a punt at say £500k

After seeing him play for Leeds I thought he was absoloutely dreadful, he's looked pretty good for Bristol City to be fair. He'd definitely give us a different option upfront. Can't see us paying a fee for anyone in this window, it'll be loans only IMO.

Was a right handful at our place last season and the exact type of player I'd love to see Town as a plan b.

Is this an opinion or a rumour doing the rounds? Doesn't matter, rumour and opinion equally as long shot.

Can't be anything in it, or this would have been in the transfer thread!

IMO, only an opinion so not on transfer thread. We won't spend money this window. We may not get a loan if it's not a decent deal. May go for loan in Feb when better deals about. In general I think this will be a quiet window all round as deals are not there.

Hasn't he already played for Leeds, Fulham and Bristol this season too, meaning he cannot play for someone else?

I am sure Bristol City would have something to say about it if he did become available for transfer. Not sure if we could compete financially with them?

He'd be brilliant if we could have special teams, like in American Football Pretty much the most commanding player in the air I've ever seen!

I think £500k is quite a lot for someone who would sit on the bench when Wells and Vaughan are fit to start.
I would expect us to look for permanent striker help from the free agents who will be available in the summer.
I'd expect a loan striker signing to be made if Vaughan or Wells get injured.

I understand your point about not paying lots of money for someone to sit on the bench, but we need a loan striker signing regardless of whether either of those 2 gets injured. We had no recognised striker on the bench last week, nor does it look like we will this & we're not even sure if JV is going to be fit to play. (I don't know anything but it is possible that he's had an adverse reaction to playing last week). There's no getting away from the fact that Town are short of numbers up front & with 40% of the season to go, it simply has to be addressed & soon.

I see Bunn as a striker who has been used wider at first team level this season. In this wider role he was our joint top league scorer until Wells' winner against Bolton last month.

Better than Hanson, seriously? Smith is good in the air but Hanson has more to his game and is also quicker and more mobile. Had a much better career than Smith too, doesn't go from club to club and doesn't get sent off. Also seen Smith miss some sitters in big games. Last minute vs us and late on vs West Ham. Ridiculous to think Hanson is poor but Smith would be a good signing.

The latter must be glacial!
