Apart from last nights great result it was brilliant to see a young lad at the club since he was 15 make his professional first team debut. There is nothing better to see one of our own academy boys make the breakthrough to first team football.Hopefully he is one of many from the academy to play for the first team in years to come, would be great to cheer on 6 or 7 of our own mixed in with a few experienced players in a few years time,it's the only way forward with our limited resources.

I liked how Vaughan went out of his way to head it in to touch to make sure the sub could be made.

Once we are nearing the end of the season and approaching mid-table, it would be good for more of these youngsters to get some game time.

Its great to see, but id like them to get a little bit of time, injury time additions are abit pointless in my opinion, What does every young footballer dream of as a kid? if your an outfield player its making your debut infront of a large crowd and scoring a worldie or if your a striker a hat trick. That dream has been taken away without even a touch of the ball.....
So yes to the addition of the kids, but they need to be given 20 minutes at a time, not 2 minutes. small steps i suppose.

Before he did that Powell was pointing at Smithies and indicating at him to kick the goal kick out of play to let him come on whilst laughing. Great stuff to see. Unfortunately Smithies probably thought that if he did kick it directly out of play he'd be getting a slaughtering by the 'Smithies hating minority' on DATM for his 'shit kicking' so decided to let Vaughan do it for him.

Hopefully, Blackpool on the final day will be an excellent chance to showcase some of these lauded youngsters - Charles, Boyle, Pyke etc. Give a couple of them a start and bring a couple of others on after an hour. They'll never get a better chance of decent game time at this level. I liked how Vaughan went out of his way to head it in to touch to make sure the sub could be made. Classy from Vaughan, even went over gave him a quick high five and a little word in his ear while he was waiting for the board to go up. Remember him doing similar with Duane Holmes when he first came into the first team, constant encouragement and praise during games.

I was about to make a joke and post a picture of a 'willy boyle', so googled images of penis boil. I wish I hadn't.
Anyway, great to see another Academy product come through. We'll probably see more of him and others if we're comfortably winning more games this season.

How great would it be if we could be safe from relegation in mid-April and give the likes of Boyle, Wright, Wilkinson, Holmes, Tronstad, Billing, Charles runs out. Would greatly improve their confidence playing in more relaxed games.

Mid April Cant see Millwall getting 45 points as it stands now, as they are only averaging less than a point a game. 42 points before end of Feb, and some are still worrying

I think it's probably easier for CP to give a defender sometime at fullback or maybe Charles up top when we are safe and winning than to throw on someone like Tronstad in CM in the thick of things so we may have to wait to see him or Billing.

It was good to see them kick it out to get him on but it would have been even nicer if one of them had passed him the ball!

Two minutes is fine at this stage, he won't have expected to come on so his 2 minutes will have done him the world of good. If you give him 20 minutes and they score from a mistake he makes then it could do more harm than good.

missed him coming on as had to leave 10 min early to get to work. however as i did Holmes and Billing were leaving going to their cars across the bridge. seemed in good spirit which is good sign when not in the first team. Billing is one player id like to see introduced to the first team if we are safe with few games to go.

And then after a rather robust challenge, the ref calls him over, notebook and yellow card in hand, and asks " what is your name ? ". The captain who is stood alongside says " don`t tell him Pyke " ! If he's good, let's find out.

The ultimate dream of football fans (well my ultimate dream) is to see eleven (+subs) representing the home town club in the European Cup final.
Of course; that has been done before but I would be quite happy for us to be the second team to perform the feat..
Well it is a dream...
Very enjoyable game last night - is a play-off place still to much to hope for?
UTT

Smithies hating minority = constructive criticism that some people cannot bear to hear. Constructive criticism is stating that he needs to be more vocal in commanding his area, or saying his kicking needs some working on - both of which I can agree on, which goalkeeper in our league doesn't have their faults? Blaming him for goals conceded which he could do literally nothing about, eg the Millwall goal a couple of weeks ago where there were several posts criticising him for not collecting the ball, is not constructive criticism. It's pure scapegoatism. He was well worthy of the songs dedicated to him last night. Anyway I don't wish to turn this into a Smithies thread, well done on the debut Boyle - here is to many more games to come!

It was good to see an home grown product and we have some good youngsters but this is a very tough league. I was chatting to someone before the game and said he's a decent players with a turn of speed like a greyhound.

Smithies hating minority = constructive criticism that some people cannot bear to hear. No-one objects to constructive criticism. Smithies has room for improvement and had a particularly dodgy spell earlier on this season. Just a load of it is crap and often this is naivity about what a keeper should and is expected to do. You'd even hear people calling for Bennett after a poor kick or not coming for a cross, an area of Bennett's game Smithies is way better.
