Although surely the article should say until the end of the 14/15 season?
1 less wage on the books, it's been clear for some time he doesn't have a future here.

Weakens the team?! I think Powell would have played Terry The Terrier at centre back ahead of Gerrard

I like him as a player (I don't know him personally so I'm not going in to all the bollocks about why he isn't playing blah blah blah) but it makes absolutely no difference to the team at all and has been said saves us some money. Good signing for Oldham in my opinion especially with their run since Johnson left.

That just leaves Wallace, Carroll and Gobern then. Can all go for me.

If the no actual hard evidence but Ive heard he's a disruptive influence although despite that we don't mind him training and playing with the u21s and have them led astray, its just the seasoned pros in the 1st team squad who we feel we need to protect brigade are correct, then arguably him leaving COULD improve the squad?

How does it weaken the team if he is never in it? Clearly something has happened which suggests he will never play for town again so he needs to go. As for Gobern why bring him into the conversation. in the games he has been involved in I think he has done really well.

What is the deal with wages when a player is loaned out. We have a few out now, but I suspect we are still paying part of their wages.

Exactly. I assume we will still be paying the vast majority of his wage till his contract is up. Not so sure the issue was being disruptive in the dressing room, more pissing off people at the very top.

Good luck to him. He's a damn sight better defender than Hudson & Wallace and arguably Lynch as well.

It'd be interesting to hear what did actually lead to him being frozen out. The piece on the club site is very short and to the point - none of the usual 'the club would like to thank Anthony for his efforts' etc etc, so it's fair to assume that something's gone on.

It will be up to Gerrard to resurrect his career and it will be interesting to see if he can get back to Championship level. Will he have a successful loan spell like Holt here and Stead at Bradford or will his career take a downward spiral? Only time will tell I suppose.

When a certain player arrived at the start of the 13/14 season stated soon after that there were several players who had difficult attitudes and liked doing there own thing when conducting themselves in training and general socialising round the club, the management team at the time were too relaxed and let things go apparently. Clayton,Gerrard,Hammill,Norwood. Where are these players now!!

In terms of consistency he was the best defender last year, although Lynch on a good day walks all over him. I've not seen enough from Hudson this year to suggest he's any better than Gerrard to be honest. Very interested to know why he has been given the cold shoulder this season.
Gobern is a frustrating one, he has shown glimpses at times that he has real potential inside him but then gets blighted by an injury or gets dropped and loses his form again. Wasn't at Birmingham but sounded like he did well when he came on, and looked comfortable against a good Norwich midfield for the 10 minutes he played on Tuesday (not very long I know). Lovely touch into Butterfield which led to the cross for Vaughan's goal.

Have Gerrard & Hudson ever played together for us? In the home loss to Brum they both started and Gerrard came on for the second half in the cup loss at home to Reading
