Or we could follow the Rotherham business model and sign as many players as we can (seems to be working for them at the moment) as they are 5 points above the relegation zone! Im guessing that's tongue cheek right? Haha

"trailingleg" - really pleased with your positive comments. As you say will probably lose to Blackpool, I guess this is on the back of the terrible, lack lustlustre, poor (need I go on) performances against Norwich & Fulham. if only we were as good as Wigan at home - completely demolished Birmingham in their last home win - last August!

Think we will bat on with what we have till the end of the season. Then sign 2 or 3 players in the summer to replace a couple more that may leave, those who are expecting an influx of players are going to be pissed off IMO as all the noises coming from those around the club point to minimal signings. Wouldnt be surprised to see a couple of players signed that Powell has had before, maybe Lawrie Wilson and Johnnie Jackson with Miller given a full time deal. Well, then we are certainties for the drop.

If anyone really thinks we might go down then get down to the bookies who will give you 33/1 on your money!

"if there is a chance to go down we will take it" - seriously/really. yeah we got 1 point from the last 2 games (same as Wigan and 1 more than Rotherham) but we played well in both - bad finishing, bad defending or whatever you call it (maybe) but played well in both which makes your comments - well rubbish. Were you around for our last relegation from this league? There was 'no chance of our going down' then either.

I'm being pessimistic I know. I know we played well against against Birmingham, Norwich and Fulham, but we got a grand total of 2 points. We didn't turn up against Charlton, Brentford or Rotherham and got nothing. We are not getting the rub of the green either with injuries to key players, and with the fixtures we've got coming up (remember Ipswich last season) I'm concerned that it will be another last day 'twist of fate' demise. We need a proper left back!

I think Miller has been fantastic One we've actually got a contract on, with options at seasons end. Unlike the much maligned, some would say deservedly Edgar. Let's not assume Powell will get them all wrong, he didn't at Charlton did he? He certainly didn't get them right. He took them into the bottom 3 and got sacked. Someone else had to dig them out of the shit!

Here lies the issue, we are all scarred for life following the events of that fateful day and a lot of us will be having sleepless nights until we are mathematically safe! Taking it to the wire the season before last didn't help much either We were down at least twice at certain points on that day iirc. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Why are some so confident of us not being relegated??? The bottom three are rubbish but even when playing well we haven't picked up wins so if we play less well how are we going to get the points?
Yes, it is certainly possible that we will stay up but right now that's more to do with the poor form of the bottom three than anything else. We could easily be in another situation like the Barnsley game where we hang on by the skin of our teeth but if our luck runs out like in 2001 its no laughing matter.
We have to get another LB in, we clearly have no one in the club capable of playing that role so its an essential move. I would be more than happy to have given an Academy lad a chance but given Powell clearly doesn't think any are good enough I will have to go with his judgment as I don't know what they are like.
One defender wont be expensive and could be the difference for us. Doing nothing right now is negative and potentially harmful if this flirtation with relegation would seriously damage SC sales.

For Powell and Hoyle not to bring in loan defenders before deadline day would be a total waste of the final part of the season. Just think of the advantages here for the club as this would be an option to see if a " successful working defensive system " could be put together , and the team could use the final matches of this season to gel these player/ players together. Any further player problems including failure could be tweaked in the close season , and that would be far better than starting another season similar to the failed Robins way. It would be vital that any of these loan player contracts include addons , and they have leadership skills, experience, pace and the ability to do the job . Surely there are better players on footballs ever increasing scrapheap than Hudson and Edgar , and feel the club have failed badly to bring in defensive players that were previously promised at the start of the year . The club have some players who can match any in the championship , and will be very interesting to see next seasons Powell team .

quality not quantity, apparently.. miller is ok, Edgar was 'quantity' ? Sorry to be controversial here - I thought he (Edgar) had a decent game v Fulham. Very solid and linked up well with midfield and widemen. Kicked one off the line in the second half and had a decent shot on target - blocked by Nahki I think? I'd like a couple of rip roaring, get forward full backs in the mould of Mal Brown and Tom Cowan if we are going to build and progress as a team - but there we are.

Watch the match replay and concentrate on Edgar if you can bare it. A few awkward moments but on the whole very solid. Passing on the whole - very accomplished. I wouldn't think he made any more individual errors than average for a player at this level. Who else did I see do an air shot the other day - Raheem Stirling was it? Arguably the best goalie in the world - passed one to the opposition centre forward at Hull on Saturday. Messi messed up a few in El Classico as wello.

Its a lame excuse.

If anyone really thinks we might go down then get down to the bookies who will give you 33/1 on your money! Bet365 and Corals are offering 40-1. What are we waiting for?

Bet365 have lowered to 33-1, Corals are still at 40-1 though. Got a tenner on it to help soften the blow. If we stay up, I'll be happy anyway and not fussed about losing the tenner. Call me pessimistic, but I've seen Town do this before from this position. Whilst those around us are strengthening their squads and picking up form (Wigan are currently 10th on form), we bring nobody in and are currently sitting 2nd bottom in the form tables over the last 6 matches. Still, I suppose it makes an otherwise dull season a bit more exciting in the run in.

Looks a great loan signing that, helps being a mate of Mourinho and one of the highest regarded coaches though!
I suspect we will not sign anyone today, hope to be proven wrong.
