I have not seen a thread on this recently. Appreciate that we have enough on the field problems at the moment but - I just wondered what everyone's views are on the clubs offering for fans this season?
The "Programme" was replaced by the £2.00 newspaper - whilst I hate this and am a collector of football programmes I have still bought one at every game to support the club. Frankly I am amazed, given our owners retail business experience, with the poor quality of this paper. Recently, there have been printing errors all over the place and on Saturday the Fulham section read "Introduction to Norwich" This is third rate and something I would expect in non league - why would this not be proof read before printing? It is all very well being told that we need to buy a Season Card (already done so) but IMO the club is getting the basics wrong - I remember when we were winning awards for our programme - I would be interested to see the sales figures for the paper.
This may appear to be trivial - but I doubt any visitors to our stadium will be impressed with this lack of professionalism.

There's no threads on it because it's not really worth fussing over, and it was discussed to death when it first came out.

Problem is nobody bought the glossy programmes. So it cost the club money. I believe you can buy sign up to a glossy programme if you're a collector. The internet has killed football program's, everything you get in a program is accessible on the net such as twitter, DATM and google.

He obviously thinks it is worth fussing over or he wouldn't have started the thread and so do I. The so called voices panel got it so wrong this time last year and need to listen to those who have voiced an opinion on this dreadful effort over the last 8 months. No amount of words can begin to describe how poorly it is put together, I think to keep costs even lower they've been getting a local kindergarten to write, edit and publish it.

It is worth fussing over. I've mentioned it before and discussed it with others how bad our marketing is and how it has gone drastically down hill since Hoyle's first season when everything seemed to be on the up.
The programmes, the use of social media, the merchandise, the use of the big screen, the marketing posters and in my opinion the overall branding of the club is very amateur. Just look at YouTube for example. Other clubs have feature videos, loads of highlights, interviews etc. It's massive. You don't even need to spend a fortune to get it right, but it's almost as if nobody cares anymore and poor things are just being allowed to be published without a second thought.
For a club that is losing fans I think this is all piss poor from the club to be honest.

The huge glossy programme was wrong ( financially ) and they've replaced it with something thats even more wrong. Id imagine sales are pitiful- you certainly hardly see anyone with one at a game.
Just make something to flick through pre match , at half time and on the bus home. 15 pages, no colour, no photos weve all already seen, no pointless stats and mind-numbing player interviews ''yeah the defeat last week was a blow, but we're hoping to win the next game..' no trying to make it into an 80 page huge glossy mag of uninteresting guff anyone can see in the examiner or on line.
A decent Town related quiz. A page on the opposition, A page on the development squad. Managers comments. Chairmans comments. Maybe an article about Town like Des Loughrey used to write back in the day.
make it a quid. Youd sell loads and maybe even make a few pounds rather than lose money.

Make it worth buying then. Throw in offers and give the fans something worth reading, there are loads of things you could do to make it more appealing. Either that or be ballsy and scrap it. Offer a downloadable version instead. Simply doing a cheaper and crap alternative shouldn't be the answer. It's like the club needing a decent player and signing David Edgar, it aint the right way to go about it

First season I've stopped buying the match day programme! Bought one against Bournemouth and I couldn't believe the poor format!

I think there could be something in this. If you then had something downloadable (maybe you get a code that allows you to get the online content within your paper copy) with links to properly run social media content and online stories then it'd be even better.

The twitter and Facebook pages are very poor too! Our twitter account is horrendous. If you have a question you have to ask them about 20 times before actually getting an answer. It's very rare that they actually reply to people

It's shite, but at least the club have tried something different. Agree with the marketing of games, use of the big screen. A bit amateurish and very unlike when Dean Hoyle 1st took the club over.

I used to buy a programme at every game home and away. Not any more though, I stopped buying them just after New Year as I finally grew tired of the the poor over priced newspaper we have now. These days I get a free copy from someone who sits in a exec box and I can honestly say it takes me 5 mins to read.
I'm mystified that every other club can produce a proper programme and yet we can't, I also think £2 for a newspaper is expensive when you consider the Football League paper is 50p cheaper and has a lot less adverts in it

In mine, I appreciate the club trying something different and it is the cheapest programme in the league. I guess this is because this is because of the newspaper format. However I think they should accept that it hasn't been much of a success and go back to the old style. As we come closer to the end of the season the club should be looking for feedback of match day experience including this.

It is crap! £2 for a newspaper is extortionate. I have seen better efforts in Emley's league. I do agree with what was posted earlier though, in that the internet and multi media has destroyed the traditional programme. I think Queens Park FC in Scotland only do an on-line programme. www.queensparkfc.co.uk/?p=1857

We could have got a better programme in January but the chairman kept his hands in his pockets. I'm hoping to see a loan programme by Thursday otherwise I think we will be relegated.

The 'programme' set the tone for the season - half way house neither a programme or nothing, confused and switched from with the flashy guah first seen under Hoyle, cheap and end product garbage
Very similar to a lot on and off the field this season

What sort of fool spends good money on a programme when you could spend it on the half time draw and give yourself chance to win a few grand?

Had everything in you'd need. Managers comments, reviews of past game and prep for that days game, fixtures etc.. No errors... And that's the Evo-Stik league FFS!

Someone who wants an actual product in return for his money rather than being much much more likely than not to get nothing?

If I wanted to spend 2 pound wisely on a product I'd go to Home Bargains or Poundstretcher, not a Huddersfield Town match.

Novelty wore off after 5 minutes of the first game of the season for me...
We used to collect them every season, haven't bought more than 3 this one.
