Got me thinking, I wonder where they all are now? All retired now, most still live locally. Ellam and Hutt in Mirfield, McGill was in Longwood, Worthington in Outlane, Hoy in Lindley, Cherry in Fenay Bridge. Poole lives in Chesterfield, Nicholson in Sale, Clarke in Spain. Mielczarek was in Wrexham before he died and haven't a clue where Dobson is. Wasn't there a thread about Colin Dobson not long ago - I think he is a coach/kit man at Stoke or Crewe or somewhere over there.

He was a scout at Stoke in the early 2000s but cannot find anything about him since bout 2009. I forgot to mention Dick Kryzwicki who lives in Shepley, Les Chapman who is Man City kitman, Brian Greenhalgh lives in Southport, Jimmy Lawson is in Kirkburton.

RIP Jimmy and thanks for the memories - Poole Clarke Hutt Nicholson Ellam Cherry Hoy/Smith Lawson Worthington McGill Dobson - it only seems like yesterday - days when the playing fields were far more level than todayTrue enough - but the game was all about money even then. We really suffered in the old 1st Division through lack of investment. I'd argue that if by some chance we got promoted into the Premiership - we would be in better shape financially and investment wise with DH at the head than we were in 1970.

Suffered my arse. - None of todays players are good enough to get into the 70s team. Shame that Mr Hoyle was still in short pants at the time.

What would Dean Hoyle be doing he isn't doing now Sugy?

We got relegated (suffered) from the old 1st division because the board at the time didn't improve the squad and eventually wouldn't pay up on wages for Worthington and Cherry.

Are you referring to 'bonusgate'? Probably. I know they were miffed about something and the team broke apart from there.

Are you referring to 'bonusgate'? Probably. I know they were miffed about something and the team broke apart from there. Not investing in the team was a commonly held view. The players Worthington, Ellam and Lawson allegedly approached spokesman Cherry and asked him to put it to the management that they receive a £1000 bonus each in the event they escaped relegation. That is when Ian Greaves made the comment "what are you going to do you're not doing now"? Cherry.. "well um.. er.. you know boss" Request refused. Relegation followed. With apologies, not a subject for this thread. Jimmy McGill's reputation remains unsullied. RIP
