My three for what it's worth
Pineau de re ... Won the race last year and only up eight pounds....eight pounds wouldn't have stopped him in 2014.. Had another really " quiet" set of prep runs.... So 28-1 is too big I M O
Lord Windermere.... Top weight for a reason ... It's a gold cup winner.... Will like the ground and I also reckon the distance ...put in a poor display in this years gold cup, lobbing round at its own pace... But take that run out and it's been placed in two grade one chases this season .. So therefore 50-1 is too big
Many Clouds.... Heart ruling head maybe.. Especially on ground faster than ideal, and after a hard race at chelts... But no winner of a Hennessey should be 40-1 in a national 4-5 months later... Especially when horses it whooped are nearly a quarter the price !! This horse has a great attitude and should take to the fences...

Only one way to pick a winner and that's to use total logic, skill, and absolute common sense. Therefore it's got to be Night in Milan. Obviously of course, Town colours, even down to the pink link hat! Of course tongue out of cheek. I've risked the massive investment of £2 e/w on five runners just to cover myself. Either Town linked or I liked the name without them being total donkeys. Therefore, Oscar Time, Many Clouds, Godsmejudge and Rainbow something or other. I shall be amazed if any of them get all the way round, let alone into the top 6 which bet victor are paying on. Good luck to everyone else.

Morning all, I'm on cause of causes, always rated paul Carberrry and he won me a packet on bobbyjo years back so there's find memories..
Put a 10 on spring healed for the missus and each way on pineau de Rey seemed a good shout as a covering bet..
Looking forward to watching it with mates after a stream of the town game. Play anything like the return fixture earlier this year and we could finally take some points away from the scabs/European champions forest :-)
Enjoy your Saturday everyone.

A mate of mine who is very into his horse betting has told me to back The Druids Nephew. However as I often just pick a horse with a name I like (actually won last year with Pineau De Re!) I don't really know anything about horseracing. However as I've seen no-one else has mentioned it yet what are people's opinions on The Druids Nephew? Worth a bet? Appreciate the help!!

In terms of the national... I think people are overlooking last years winner pineau de re who will be cherry ripe and has the course n distance form !! Shutthefrontdoor will probs end up 4 or 5 to one which will be the worst value since racing began !! Despite owning a leg of one, or maybe it's forelock, I know sod all about horses. However, for the past couple of years I've done well at the GN by following a feature in The Times which eliminates horses through various criteria - including last years winner (which, from memory, the article had as 2nd most likely) You are buggered if one of the main criteria for elimination doesn't work (age particularly), but with a big field and decent each way odds, I've profited. Hopefully, they will do the column again this year Royale Knight was the tip following the elimination process (and I was wrong - they got the winner last year.) The 3 who were eliminated at the penultimate step were Night In Milan, rocky Creek, Saint Are. The favourite "fell" at the step before for not running for 5 months, though they thought the McCoy effect means you eliminate at peril.

My main tip regarding the Grand National is that if you're going to the City ground today with a mobile phone, don't shout the winners name (and all those placed) to a mate four rows away.
Even if you've not heard of Sky+ others around will have, so try really hard not to be a knobhead and think of others. Cheers.
I'm just a mug punter and prone to being too loyal to horses that have served me well so don't put too much faith in these.
I've backed Balthazar King & Soll, with a small bet on Night In Milan (because he's served me well before) and a saver on Rocky Creek as his credentials look ominous. However you could make a case for an awful lot more (& I wholeheartely agree with Ted the odds on his three selections look too big given they've all shown tremendous form in the past (if sometimes in patches)).

Balthazaar King Soll Rebel Rebellion Rocky Creek Unioniste
All backed each way with BetVictor who are paying quarter odds on first six places. If I had to picl one it would be Rebel Rebellion

At the risk of being sectioned I'm putting up " go west young man " in the first at aiintree .... If you look at its form its second second second third second second etc etc ... That's because it comes cruising over the last and then throws the towel in, jinking left and right .. It will do anything in its power to get beat ..... And today it is upped massively in class.... So I'm not sure it can win but what I do know is that this is a talented rogue who might sneak a place..... So at 100-1 it will be carrying a pound each way of my dough

Andy its the grand national ..If you seriously think you won't have heard the result before you get back to your tv you're deluded mate !! You can hope Ted. Admittedly it's a long shot but following Town I'm used to that. I'm going to take the I Pod shuffle & listen to that from the final whistle so it's only during the match that's a real problem (or if the bloke on the Forest PA is daft enough to put the result out & it's louder than it should be). Straight to the car & a short journey home without the radio. Hopefully shouting at the TV around 19.00 (after watching five races). The main problem is people around me in the ground during the game. The fixture list wasn't kind to me.

I think all five have a good chance but Unioniste is probably too young. I use a range of data including wins, course, distance, going etc ratings etc from vatrious sources and I Rebel Rebellion, Soll and Balthazar King have the same rating - so Rebel Rebellion based on the odds available alone. - best value of the five for me. Last year I had 3 in the top six. Previous year the winner and 2 others. Hope for the same this year but who knows with horse racing?

I don't really know much about rebel rebellion to be honest apart from its trained by the master .. The national has been my best race level stakes wise over the years but haven't bagged the winner for 3-4 years...doubt I will this year but I can't be betting 10-1 shots in such an open 40 runner handicap

£66.50 return for me too. See earlier post. £2 e/w on the winner, other 4 with same bet not in first six. Good return for £20 outlay.
