West Yorkshire Sport ?@wysdaily 6m6 minutes ago Key notes from Dean Hoyle #htafc fan Q&A session: Ross Wilson will be replaced. Confident of success next season if get recruitment right. Felt this squad should have finished higher this season, wanted 10th place. Says won't sell any players they don't want to this summer & wants to keep squad together. Not sure what fans want - winning in league 1 or battling to establish in championship. 1) Presumably that means if get recruitment of players right, rather than success being down to getting recruitment of Ross Wilsons replacement right? 2) On what sensible grounds would anyone have expected this squad to finish 10th or higher this season? Its this misjudgement that concerns me a bit about recruitment and expectation (from inside the club) going forwards. 3) Good message. 4) Whilst in the Championship, we want to see the club battling to establish itself and hopefully continuing to progress, and if we were relegated to League 1, we'd want to see our team winning games and getting back into the Championship at the earliest opportunity. Obviously. Were you being confused with those chaps in "camper vans" who pitch up at the retail park?

Nope, I think the last few games proves him right. This squad could definitely have finished top 10 if they had just played a few more games this season like they did today, against Forest and Ipswich. I'm glad to hear that he said that he wanted top 10, that should be our aim. Problem is on here if you say you want that, you're 'deluded and not being realistic'. This season, in the main, has been dross, the upturn in form of late has given it a sheen of respectability but due to Powell's conservative approach we've had to put up with some right crap. I'm not having that Art. We've had a few brief spells where the performance levels have dropped. Can you list the games that have been dross please because for me, its been an enjoyable season.

Are we really that far off 10th place as well? I can easily think of a few games where we robbed off points because of poor decisions from the officials (Charlton), then there are plenty of performances where we've been undone by sides who have simply been more clinicla infront of goal, (Derby yesterday, Wolves, Fulham away), then you add in the freak win for Fulham which 9 times out of 10 in would have been us with the 3 points, then Norwich with the last minute equaliser, you could say the same for Birmgingham at home with their winning goal, and then dropping 2 points at Rotherham.
All performances where we could quite easily have taken more points from - its not hard find another 7 or 8 points from those games that would have us up in the top 10.

Any comment saying CP is a negative manager (or something similar) is just total bullshit & completely ignores the facts. We're 11th in the goals scored table, which says it all.
True, there are dour games from time to time, but they are much in the minority. Some people seem to focus only on the negatives, whilst completely ignoring the positives, as that suits their agenda of slating the club at every opportunity.

The recruitment means both players and Ross wilsons replacement but not actually in the same role. expect more on this soon. As for deans point regarding fans ambitions i take his point but the large majority want us in the championship but i understand his frustration as for being around tenth just a couple of players short for me but well done over the last month and with a couple of quality players we can push on next season in what again will be another dog fight all through the division

Let me put art right on this issue the manager has applied tactics to stable use us to get us safe and its obvious art as little knowledge of the game and the manager has done his job well.i wonder what qualifications art has to make such comments?

I'd be grateful if someone could just go over exactly what was said for us exiles, not just the keynotes. His tone and mood in answering the questions posed, say as much as the actual questions themselves perhaps.

Not only that Rocky but in the link I posted on the previous page it shows we are 4th (FOURTH) in the division on chances created (behind only Bournemouth, Norwich and Brentford). I could hardly believe it myself when I saw it, Because all we read on here is this football is perhaps the worst in decades and making people not renew their seasons tickets of 20+ years, not forgetting that Powell is downright negative. Oh and Oti's beloved (and apparently) unlucky Rotherham are 14th.

I was referring to Rotherham at home, although the away performance weren't upto much either. Norwich, we got tonked 5-0 and Leeds away was garbage. My definition of dross and yours is poles apart. Some Town fans are easily pleased.

Look mate stick to saving your flags or whatever you do in that poxy stand of yours, you clearly are enjoying whatever shite is served up, no matter how good or bad it us. Yesterday was good, the best game of the season, its actually a crying shame that we've had to wait till April to see enjoyment and entertainment to that level, now the season is done with. If we saw that endeavour and 'have a go attitude' all season we probably would have finished higher and crowds wouldn't be dwindling.

The defence were an absolute load of shite before Reece James came on the scene. His inclusion seems to have brought the best out of Hudson.I would have much preferred Powell to use the final 8 games of the season to put together a proven defence that comes up to championship standard , and " all players " were available to start next season. I don't know if it were possible to give James a contract extension , as then Powell could use the close season to tweak any obvious weaknesses.

We seem to have two extremes here. Those who think the season as been poor for the most part and those who think its been a good season. Its probably somewhere in between but has fallen below Hoyle's hopes/expectations.
As KennyK2 said above, for those of us who couldn't make to yesterday's Q & A, was there anything else said that hasn't been reported already? Did he mention anything about the seemingly defunct "Pathways" and the lack of opportunities for the development of the kids?

Totally agree the defence needs sorting and we should look to extend James' time with us. However, I wouldn't say James has made that much difference defensively and I have absolutely no comprehension of using the final 8 games to put a proven defence together. Eh.

I don't agree; I don't think hardly anyone is saying it's been a 'good' season. You just end up sounding like a so called happy clapper constantly having to respond to those that are never going to be happy.
