Coady for me is far too casual he doesn't seem to get stuck in when its needed and although he clearly has some talent I doubt he would get into many sides in our division. Gobern was proving himself to be the difference against the top teams and its a real shame if he leaves. A bit of an insult to the club who he has collected a wage off and given very little in return until just recently.

Think Coady may play in defence for us next season, still probably need to bring in another couple of defenders though.

He won't come to us but I'd love Massimo Luongo as a replacement for Gobern.

Goberns probably wanting a lot more than Town are prepared to offer, good luck to him wherever he ends up. Gobern. He had a great end to the season, the best spell he's had since he's been here. However, he has hardly featured for 4 years with injuries and being deemed just not quite good enough (until now), by a succession of managers. Hoyle and Co probably realised that he just isn't worth the wage he was on and rightly so - don't forget that when he signed we were splashing out a bit on wages until the club saw sense. He's probably on a wack that is similar to other players who have produced consistently. Nice to see that the club are not being taken for mugs and just paying up, bowing to agents. I can see him ending up at a club that can splash on wages (Brizzel City - now owned by a multi-billionaire), or he might drop down a league to a Sheff United, Wigan perhaps. Also, forgot to say, I don't think he will find somewhere else willing to pay the wage that he's getting at Town. I think I'd be looking for a new agent if I was him!

I agree about Coady, he is incredibly casual and ball watches for too often for my liking. However, I think Gobern is also a bit prone to the same things and to offer someone a new contract on the back of 5 or 6 games after 4 years of disappointment is a bit risky.

Town linked with Swindon RB Nathan Byrne, but move looks unlikely according to the examiner. Probably not we we need imo, but any thoughts?

Also, I've heard Majewski is wanted by Robins again at Scunthorpe. Probably a good move for him that. Matt Mills, who I suggested we look at, is close to signing for Forest soon on a free. Reckon he could've done a job for us, but may have been on quite high wages.
Edit: Now hearing that Fulham are looking to snatch him from under Forest's nose

Think it was Leicester who paid £5m for him and his stock fell quite a bit while he was there. He'll still be on a fair whack though I'm sure.

He won't come to us but I'd love Massimo Luongo as a replacement for Gobern. I kept looking out for him in the play off final but he didn't seem to get involved much. Thought I saw a headline the other day that Villa had offered £3mm for him and Gladwin.

We all have different opinions I guess. I don't think Coady is anything like Gobern and plays in a different position. Just think Coady is the best I've seen in that position for us ie the base of a midfield 3. Much rather have him there than Clayton for example. I've not noticed him being casual/dwelling on the ball any more than Clayton, or ball watching. He had a bit of a poor spell when Powell moved him out of position to accommodate Poyet - which may indicate that Powell is thinking on your lines - but I'd build a team round Coady and Butterfield.

Everyone is guessing players that are leaving but does anyone think we will make a big sale like we usually do ? Can see a few being interested in Butterfield and Smithies

if we don't have players that other teams are interested in then we are right up shit creek without a paddle...
comes with the territory...imagine having a very good season and just missing out, your better players have been lauded all year, shown on telly a shitload and you then have a right old ding dong trying to keep them..
small mercies and all that...

Hull have released Liam Rosenior, Paul McShane, Yannick Sagbo, Maynor Figueroa, Steve Harper and Joe Dudgeon. Any of those worth a look at? Maybe since we need a LB, a look at Dudgeon would be good. I would suggest Figueroa, but his wages may be high and he's getting on a bit now, but still a cracking player. Also, if we move Murphy on, maybe Harper back on a free? But that's more hopeful than realistic, I guess.
