Heard a rumour we are in for Luke Chambers in the summer to improve the back like, can't see it happening, especially if Ipswich go up!

I'd personally like to see James come back and maybe Nick Powell on loan from man Utd aswell. Anyone know what the situation with Harry McGuire is at Hull?

Nick Powell is not the player he was at Wigan, he's had an awful season by all accounts both at Leicester and United.

I think we will sign 2 new players maximum with potentially a third on season loan. Bunn coming back, Lolley improving, Gobern showing some form will see us needing to address the LB position and potentially bring in another striker. I do not see the defense being adjusted for next season. Lynch and Hudson will be the spine. Smith, Wallace Carroll and James or Replacement filling the other two. Now I am not saying that's the best we can do - but I think its what we can afford. the late form will give some impetus for next season. onwards and upwards UTT. If we only sign 2 players and lose a couple early on to injuries and suspensions we'd be in big trouble, I'm hoping we will sign James and Miller for the season and a couple more.

He's looked disinterested whilst playing for reserves the few times I've seen him but according to the United fans ive spoken to United are keen to get rid, so a loan with a possible buy seem likely. Plus he's still only a young lad.

Well I think signing up james and miller is a must, even if james is a season long loan! He was suburb against Derby, I don't think we are too far off where we need to be but a quality/ decent championship defender needs to be brought in to play along side lynch I.e. Chambers or someone of that ilk, Hudson and Wallace are good enough cover for me! Hudson is too much of a liability for me to play every game! Striker wise just a loan if Vaughan or anyone gets injured!

Wouldn't it make for a shorter thread to name all the players we won't be linked with this summer?

Might be worth giving Real Madrid a bell see if we can get Ødegaard on a season long loan!

We all seem to assume that James and Miller are going to be available for signing or re-loaning. They might not. We had a big clearout at the start of the year and brought in these two and we seem to have done pretty well since then. Replacing James is vital if we cannot get him on season loan. I am not convinced about Miller. We might let him go and look for someone else. Having said that I would not be moaning if he signed again.

I think Miller has been very good for us and I'd like to think there has been contract discussion for next year already.James looks like he is worth buying/loaning for next year just on the strength of his corners alone.Didn't look as good to me defensively as Robinson but I did think he was the strongest LB we've had for years.

I believe we signed Miller till the end of the season with Town having an option to take an extra year.

Powell (Wilson?) has done pretty well in the loan market. Holt, Robinson, James - all players of higher quality than we already have and I assume we will continue on similar lines when we need to to. Its not a bad model is it? Pare down the squad to get rid of the deadwood and get high quality loans in if/when needed. Look how Bournemouth (Jones), Watford (most of their players), Derby (Ince/Bent), Boro (Bamford), Brentford (Pritchard) have used loans this season. Like it or not - a key strategy in elevating yourself in the Championship. What we need from the Ross Wilson replacement is someone with good contacts and depth of knowledge of the Premiership academy/development squads and in particular those of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United, Man City and Liverpool. Also be good if he has same contacts/knowledge of Div 2 and the Conference.

I don't think we will re-sign Miller. He is a free agent and could command a high wage from a club willing to make him a regular starter. Here he will be 3rd choice behind Wells and Vaughan and I doubt the club will be willing to offer him anything other than an average deal.
He may well take up other options elsewhere as his stock has risen during his stint with us.
