Who have we got left to excite my 12 year old lad ? Kids and grown up kids want a youngish player to look up to , to inspire them . we now have team of pensioners (according to my lad) Coady was the only player to come from a premier league club , If my lad representative of 13-12 year old fans they gutted James Vaughan was the youngest ever premier league goal scorer.. Bunn/Smith Man City.. We've just signed a young player from West Brom who played against Brazil in the last world cup.. Educate the lad!

He can't have been that impressed with Poyet, he hardly played when we had him on loan. Can't say I'd be that excited by signing him, he's not really pulled up any trees wherever he's been.

I actually think there is a really good player in that Poyet lad. He came at a strange time and we hardly saw him play, but he looked to be a good passer and Charlton fans rated him highly as a defensive mid. Bit harsh to judge him on 3-4 appearances. Our midfield cannot carry a player like Hourihane so can't see us being in for him. Mcguigan would be an interesting one. Has bags of talent and is a goal threat, but he lacks consistency. Could be an interestig couple of weeks.

Just tweeted Alan Nixon on a replacement for Coady and this was his reply: @damohtafc U would like mcgugan. But not at those prices.
Hopefully Deano can work his magic and tempt them to sell at a low price!!

And I'd have thought Mcgugan would want double the wages Coady was on (if he really was on 5k). Doesn't really make much sense

Mcgugan is a bit too lazy to play the box to box role. He is more suited to Butterfield's role so I'd be surprised he if he signed. Also very much doubt he would want to come here He was poor for Wednesday against us. Looks a bit luxurious. May as well have kept Majewski

Bringing in a luxury player like Mcgugan on 10k plus a week doesn't really sit well in that strategy. Not denying he is a class act on his day though

They play in different positions so it would be strange to replace Coady with McGugan - and we would never be able to spull his name.

The reactions when at the end of the window we ain't signed a replacement... With Hogg, Whitehead, Billing & Butterfield all capable of playing that roll the club may look to strengthen elsewhere instead? It may not be a like for like replacement.. In most of the predicted line ups for the Hull game Coady was sacrificed for Whitehead by fellow DATM'ers.. We may look to use some of the money to strengthen the defence/attack & bring in a loan signing to cover midfield incase of injuries, etc.

So there was no clause in his contract if we say we'll only sell him If the terms were right for us. If there was a clause we'd have no choice. Plus clubs not said owt so I reckon its bullshit anyway. We received an offer and accepted it. End of

Once a player expresses an interest to speak to a bigger club there's very little chance of keeping hold of that player, regardless of clauses, etc.. Wolves are one of the favourites for promotion & we're one of the favourites for relegation, so you can't really blame the lad for wanting the move.. I'm sure he'll have been disappointed with our 16th place finish last season & wants a more realistic option to get back to the premier league.. It might not pay off for him but I certainly don't hold it against him.
In other news Matt Glennon has extended his contract at FC Halifax for another season, not sure if Senior is still number 2 there though?

End of There seems to be a clause in a lot of contracts now that allow a player to open discussions with another club if said club meets the fee in the contract. This doesn't mean the players current club have to accept the offer but they cannot stop the other club talking to the player I think it was in Luis Suarez contact that any offer over £40 million meant he could speak to the club, which I think Arsenal met, but Liverpool didn't have to accept the offer.

a midfield 3 of of Whitehead Hogg and Butterfield could work perfectly as they are all very different so we'd have a well balanced midfield.
I don't think we need to splash on a midfielder it will give youth a chance to push (mainly Billing and Holmes) or if one gets injured I dont see a problem playing with 2 in midfield either we are very capable with a different formation.
personally I would spend the money on a defender and get Wallace out on loan.
Bring in a striker in on loan and then we should be set.

Hogg will miss a fair few with injuries and Whitehead is 30+ so always the risk of a spell on the sidelines, Powell is very much a safety first manger so I can't think for 1 minute that he will be happy to use Billing or Tronstat as 1 choice back up. Therefore I'd be amazed if we don't see another midfielder come in, just hoping its not some unadventurous deadwood like David Edgar.

May as well have kept Majewski Thought he was pretty much the only player with a clue on a terrible pitch in a terrible game. He is a player, a bit like Butterfield, who hasn't lived up to his obvious talent - like Butterfield, a move here may just be very good for both of us. (Heard the rumour about him about 2 weeks ago - rather surprisingly, it was via something NC said)
