Huddersfield: Vaesen, Jenkins, Lucketti, Gray, Armstrong, Heary, Holland, Thornley, Baldry, Booth, Facey. Subs: Margetson, Moses, Irons, Gorre, Gallen. How did that team go down? Because Facey had money on it. Backhanders to Delroy .........

Worst would probably be Pawel Abbott being a dickhead gifting Cheltenham a goal, costing us automatic promotion. The delight it brought to the Cheltenham fans was very strange, they took great pleasure in our failure
So it was quite pleasing to see them fall back in to the Conference this season

This is an excellent thread that has had this long-term (now exiled)Town Fan and (very) occasional Poster [see Avatar and Number of Posts] reminiscing.
So many possible "best and worst moments" to choose.
From boy to teenager, to young man, to husband, to father.
5 Promotions, 3 Relegations, 7 sets of Play-Offs, 4 Play-Off Finals.

Oops!!!
I guess so much depends on your age, circumstances and expectations - plus who you shared the experience with at the time.
One moment of euphoria (for me) not mentioned = 6 October 1992 - Simon Ireland putting Town 3-2 Up Away at Blackburn Rovers in the Coca-Cola Cup.
Of course we eventually lost the match - which in so many ways sums up being a Town Fan.

First of many awful moments supporting Town... last home game of 65/66. They had to beat Coventry to stand a chance of promotion to the top flight (and hope that Man city lost to Southampton). Of course typical Town - lost 0-2 in front of Match of the Day cameras just so we could relive the agony again later that evening. This was in the days when Match of the Day only showed one match. Next one was dropping into the 3rd tier for the first time in our history in 1973. Gutted again, although it was a slow death that one so overall not as devastating as 'instant' one-off defeats. From memory I think we had to wait for another team to play before it was confirmed (Cardiff?) The two that were the absolute worst were as many others have said, the two Peterborough defeats. Felt totally numb for days after both those. probably because of high expectations. Several 'best' moments but generally mentioned by many others. The play-off wins (obvious) and victories at Elland Road (esp. the Dave Cowling one!) Particular mention also goes to... Town 2 Hartlepool 1 to score 101 goals and clinch 4th div championship against the odds after playing 2nd fiddle most of the season to Walsall. That will stay with me forever. Little bit of trivia for you . A season or two before we scored 101 , another team won the 4th div with 111 (i think) . Who were the team ? My first thought was Lincoln, must be my era!

My second post here. Of course the 2 Peterborough games, the Brum etc....all brought a tear to my eye but it was the slow, slow death of Leeds Road. It was like losing a member of the family, i kept going down, looking, seeing it get smaller....fading away. I suppose some remember moments and some live ingloriously in the past.

Ah the old Leeds Road. Someone said the worst was the 0-3 home to Manchester United first season up - to me it was brilliant seeing as was said previously Law, Best, Charlton. And we did get a 1-1 away at Old Trafford.
The worst was any number of games in the mid 70's, by the time we had slipped into the old 3rd div. It really was a test of your commitment to keep going back in those days.

I'll take the other bridge for the rest of this year.

Worst - 1) The relegation at Port Vale, sat in my seat unable to move for about half an hour after the game. 2) The final at Old Trafford. 3) The journey down to Wembley, my old man crashed and wrote the car off somewhere on the A5 near Milton Keynes. I was nearly in tears at the side of the road at the thought of not seeing my team at the new Wembley.
Best - 1) Being picked up by a random town fan and driven to Wembley after the crash while my dad waited & got picked up by my uncle and family and they got the train from Milton Keynes, never saw the car again after leaving it in a lay by! Seeing us get promotion after that was pretty special, couldn't have cared less about the car! 2) Promotion in Cardiff after spending the night camping somewhere in South Wales with a tent covered in town flags and scarfs. 3) Michael Collins' last minute winner at the skip.

Worst losing 2-1 at home to Peterborough in 1992. Best Rob Edwards scoring against Lincoln to get us to Wembley after we nearly went out of business at the start of the season.

Did anyone mention Dave Cowling scoring at leeds in the Milk Cup in 82 ? After a decade of seeing so many supposedly Huddersfield people wearing Leeds scarves throughout the 70's , it was such a great feeling at Elland Road that night . Very special !

Worst - Honourable mention for Port Vale away, getting absolutely dicked and relegated to a division I'd never seen us play in before. Huddersfield: Senior, Brown, Heary, Moses, Gavin, Schofield, Holland, Smith, Worthington, Booth, Stead. Subs: Thorrington, Mattis, Scott, Sharp, Jeffery. How did that team go down? Think you answered your own question there.

To add to the forgotten ones: the run to the League Cup Semi-Final in 1968. David Shaw's extra-time winner against Fulham in the Quarter-Final, Tony Leighton's goal in the Semi against Arsenal that put us ahead in the tie.

Beating Wolves for the first time in ages, Jimmy Nic's winner at Norwich, Hammers at home 2-0. I think Leighton's goal made it 3-3, but didn't Dobson lob the Arsenal keeper at Highbury to put us one up in the tie?

For me, aside from the obvious ones the best Town moment was the game we out seven past Palace, inc. Wijnhards bicycle kick. The best I have ever seen Town play. One of those rare occasions where I left feeling completely satisfied.

There was also the away draw at Fulham who were First Division at the time.

Best is going to huddersfield for the 1st time just after bullock had signed and deciding as an 11year old that this was the team i was going to follow. Worst is taking my then girlfriend(now wife) to a game for 1st time thinking she would hate it but ending up with her loving it and pestering me to take her to every game now!!!

Millwall away in the play offs, Millwall at home in the play offs in 2010 I believe. Never seen two abject performances lacking heart and creativity like it. Play offs vs Peterborough at OT was bad too. Barnsley at home was the best for me, complete euphoria when we stayed up. This was closely followed at Wembley vs Sheff, you couldn't write two scripts like that if you tried!

One good day against Millwall was the last day of the 1986/7 season when winning our last 3 games kept us up when we looked doomed in 2nd bottom before those wins.
Not that it helped much for the next year.

I do remember that Millwall game though, I also remember the opening game of the 85/86 season against Millwall, the 4-3 thriller.
