Yes, I realise that this may not be a hugely concerning issue, but surely I can't be alone in thinking that the club is going to miss out on a significant amount of holiday-related revenue by releasing these new kits so late? The away one in late June, fair enough, but the home one "unveiled" on the 30th July? Hmm. Kit launch dates

While I agree with the principle of this - certainly can't see any reason why there would be a month between the two release dates, I'm curious about the point that always get raised regarding holidays.
Is a new Town shirt the first thing you think to pack when you're jetting off in summer? My assumption (certainly my memory from when I was younger) is that the first time having the new kit is impressive is when you're playing football with OTHER Town fans, be it after school or around home - then the thing is 'I've already got it' and the kids with the summer birthdays come up trumps.
Still, that's two months and more for people to speculate and post good/bad/odd designs.

Design should be nailed down and released just as the season ends. We used to play in the new kit on the last match sometimes so it cant be that hard.

Can only comment for myself, Marco, but it doesn't make much difference to me personally as I likely wouldn't buy one specifically for the holidays. However, I know plenty who do/would though, and I suppose I'm thinking more in terms of those with kids etc. Like I say, possibly not too much of an issue but just strikes me a bit odd (and perhaps a missed opportunity) how many other clubs are releasing their kits now (and even prior to the season ending) and ours are coming out only shortly before the new season starts.

We don't even know who the sponsor is yet, and it was only the other day that the club confirmed that it wouldn't be Rekorderlig and that they're dealing with 3 possible sponsors. Think that might be why its quite late.

Yes I remember town playing the last game of the season in the new shirts even if it was a new sponsor and can't for the life of me think why it's such an issue for town in particular getting the new shirts out in plenty of time before the season starts. The only thing it could be with the home shirt being released so late on is that there's a few issues with having a new home shirt sponsor.

Just annoying with the away shirt for me. Was 50/50 with the black and yellow one probably last season.
Shame it can't be just 1 shirt

The last few season Town have invariably been quite late at getting new kits out, and it's complicated a bit this year with the change is sponsor as already mentioned above.
Never buy kits myself, but I think they're important and it's always interesting to see the new ones! I just hope Town adhere to the KISS principle - Keep It Simple Stupid1

They must miss out on loads of sales launching it so late, I'll often buy one for my hols if I like the design. Chances are I won't bother if it's not out in time, lots of people are the same I dare say.

The last shirts had the logo dyed into the shirt, I wonder if that's going to happen again this time.
They'd have a nightmare with a complex sponsors logo.

If you can afford to buy a town shirt to take on your holiday, then your not spending enough on your holiday.

Why have we got to May without having a new sponsor in place? There must have been discussions about extending the current deal (6 months ago) and when it was clear that wasn't happening, surely a new sponsor should have been sought. Or have Rekorderlig had second thoughts and left Town in the lurch?

I wonder if we will also have a 3rd shirt again or whether we will either have a single sponsor (Thornton & Ross take over home sponsorship) or if we can find a solution where if we have a separate sponsor then will just have the one away shirt.
Over half the clubs wear either blue or white or a combination. 5 clubs wear red with potentially Swindon to add to that and Burnley in Claret and Blue. Wolves and potentially Hull will have gold/Amber
So, if Norwich go up we may get away with Yellow only.
Green would cover everything, as would a few other colours
Then again, for commercial and income reasons we'll probably see another 3rd Kit that is wore more than the away kit!

It'd be nice to have a Roma style cockup and have a sponsorless shirt for the coming season.

The easiest thing to do is to have red and black away and use the home kit for the few matches where it clashes. Sponsorship is the only thing that currently prevents this.

Aside from the holiday purchasers, which I have to admit to never having heard of before, surely by releasing it so late they are really eating into sales time?
These things have a very short shelf life these days as we seem to change shirt almost every summer. They'll be in the bargain bin by February / March time so having them on sale from the start of May rather than the end of July adds almost 50% more onto the time when they can be sold for full price, 9 months rather than 6!

The easiest thing to do is to have red and black away and use the home kit for the few matches where it clashes. Sponsorship is the only thing that currently prevents this. This could be solved easily by putting the away sponsors logo on a few sets of home shirts for the time we've got to play in it away from home. They could raffle them off at the end of the season for charity as they'd be unusual and might bring in a fair bit of cash for them being so unique.
