Greedy little bar steward. His contract runs until 2017; if I was Brendan Rodgers I'd stick him in the Stiffs for the rest of his Liverpool career and refuse to sell him. Let's see how much plays - and earns - doing that! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32830357

Wanting to improve your prospects with Champions League football and earn more does not necessarily make the lad greedy but the question for me is, Is he really ready and good enough yet? History is awash with players who have made the step up too soon and ended up taking big steps backwards. Think at least another season at Anfield would have been his best bet.

If he took the $ and went to a bigger club(Chelsea City Arsenal Madrid etc) he surely wouldnt be guaranteed a start, maybe at Utd but Young Di Maria? and Valencia to contend with.....like already said badly advised but it isnt the first time an 'agent' has behaved in such a way and wont be the last....needs to stay at the scousers concentrate on getting his form of 13/14 back and the rest will take care of itself

Dont understand what the issue is here. He doesnt want to play for Liverpool and I cant blame him, they're not going to win anything worthwhile anytime soon.
Why is everyone acting like a player should sign a new deal when a contract is put under their nose?
Liverpool fans just need to accept they aren't the club they once were. These things always get blown out of proportion when Liverpool are involved because so many of their sour ex players work in the media

Why would he want to sign a new contract when he's got two years left on his current one?

Why would he want to sign a new contract when he's got two years left on his current one? Isn't Stirling on £30k a week and has turned down £100k.

So should he just take more money even though he doesn't want to stay longer? Think I'd rather see a player move for football reasons than stay just because theres big cash on offer. He moved to Liverpool at a young age, had a kid with a girl he's estranged from, been involved with accusations of assault, and doing shisha. Maybe he's grown up a bit, and wants to get a fresh start away from bad influences?

Make him stay and don't play him and let his contract run down so they get nowt for him thus weakening the scouse whingers twice. That'll do nicely for me
Ps I hope they televise it when Carraghers comes across Stirlings agent that's just called him a knob.

Can someone try and convince me that RS is as good as he appears to think he is? Getting interest from Real Madrid and Man Utd along with a whole host of other top clubs, surely that's enough to persuade him that he can do better than Liverpool and that he's good enough. You won't get very far at a top club if you don't believe in yourself and your ability. Harsh that the media are dragging him through the dirt for wanting to better his career. I mean, would you rather play for Liverpool challenging for the Europa League or go elsewhere and get to have a crack at the Champions League and possibly even push to win the Premier League itself? Is wanting the latter such a bad thing for a young player?

Can someone try and convince me that RS is as good as he appears to think he is? Not me. I've watched a few recent Liverpool games and he's been mediocre in a mediocre team. Interesting stuff from his agent though: "Carragher is a knob," Ward said. "Everybody knows it. Any of the criticism from current pundits or ex-Liverpool players -- none of them things matter to me. It is not relevant."

Don't know the whys and wherefores but if I was sterling I'd sack the agent who has done absolutely nothing for him but create friction. Agents are a cancer in the game now.........if it's not the money that's the issue then have the balls to say why he won't sign instead of accusing a Liverpool legend of being a knob! If he's worth 100k pw then Jesus wept football in this country is ruined.

If he is moving to get to a better club, with a chance of winning trophies, I can not blame him. Don't see Liverpool winning anything anytime soon. If he moves to a lesser club just because they are offering more money he would lose my respect, not that he cares what I think.

Here we have someone who is very quick over 10/20 yards who gains momentum, but his first touch is lousy at best. Modern greedy footballer who couldn't hold a candle to Dalglish, Rush, Molby, the list goes on. There's no loyalty nowadays they have their heads turned by agents to follow the money. Liverpool missed out on Champions League football with Sterling in that team, nowt to do with him that though. The club ought to stand firm and make him see out his contract. How can you have one of your players collect an award whilst getting booed !

He ll make his money by going to City, then when his contracts up he ll end up at villa or West Brom! Same route as Sinclair and Rodwell! Still who cares, he ll be in his big mansion counting his money laughing his head off by then!

Agree with offtopic..I dont think its about money...yes he'll get a big payday wherever he goes but who would want to play for pool on 200k a week when you could play at a top club for 200k a week?

I don't see a problem here, Sterling clearly wants to leave Liverpool, however, he is contracted to them until 2017.
He has every right to refuse to sign an extension to his contract. But the club has every right not to sell him until THEY want to.
The longer they keep him the more the price will decrease until a zero value in June 2017. The ball is in Liverpool's court when and whose bid they accept IF they want to sell him.
If it was solely about Sterling's greed then he would sign the extension, then ask for a transfer at a later date.
He is only going to lose money every week with his current stance until Liverpool choose to sell him.

Greedy little bar steward. His contract runs until 2017; if I was Brendan Rodgers I'd stick him in the Stiffs for the rest of his Liverpool career and refuse to sell him. Let's see how much plays - and earns - doing that! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32830357In fact - How is this any different in principle to Adam Clayton, he made it clear that he wouldn't extend his contract for us for less than 20K a week, which we were never going to do, so in our case we chose to sell with 12 months left on his contract. He got his 20k a week payday and we got a handsome transfer fee. The numbers are much higher but then so is the talent level. If anything it is Liverpool that are struggling to adapt to the fact there there is a level above them, that some players may choose to leave them for. Champions league football is a level where the better players want to play at.
