What's everyone's opinion on it? Over the last couple of years there has definitely been a joint effort by all the major media outlets to increase it's exposure, to the point where every other tweet on the FA's Twitter page is about the women's game. And with women's teams been introduced into the new FIFA game, intrest will almost certainly increase, maybe through curiosity more than anything.
Personally, i wouldn't go out of my way to watch it (the WC apparently starts this Saturday), having grown up watching the men's game the difference in quality is immeasurable, thus making it nowhere near as enjoyable.

Can't compare it at all to the men's game imo. It's deffo really improved over last ten years. Some decent lady footballers out there, a fair few Let's say Not as feminine as many girls.

Its low quality, even at international level. The World Cup starts Saturday, the Americans will no doubt win it again but I will be giving it a swerve...although Sepp's idea of them wearing tighter shorts isn't bad...his lasting legacy.

Very poor quality and I'd back any local non-league male side to beat the England women's International team - So, I wouldn't pay ten pence to go and watch a women's football match.

To be honest I struggle to watch any game of football that Town are not playing in no matter who is playing

'They could, for example, wear tighter shorts.' Blatter at his finest imo!

I am certainly no mysoginist, but I too am sick to death of the BBC ramming womens footie down my throat, whether I like it or not. It may be subtley different to the mens game, but why on earth would anyone go to watch it instead of the proper game? I'd go & watch a womens game for the same reason I'd watch a conference game or a game on the local park - because I just love the game, but all this pretence that it is, in some way "equal" is rubbish. I have no problem with the BBC/Guardian showing it, reporting on it or featuring it, but not just because it is the womens version. Their approach is Sexist, in my opinion, but I am open to Barbieterrier pointing out the error in my ways (again!).

It's shite but the hilarity of the goalkeeping makes it watchable at times.

Haven't watched it since I saw a GK jump out of the way of the ball. About summed it up for me.

i've watched a few games on tv, major tournements etc, and I find it okay. It reminds me a bit of watching Town back in the 60's...lots of crunching tackles, loads of errors, no diving, no feigning injury, no crowding the ref, no swearing at lino's..played at a slower pace but end to end stuff....yes, it's bloody refreshing to watch..just like footy as I remember it before sky and all the money grabbing foreigners came in and ruined it ..i'll watch the world cup for shooa.
don't know why so many are rubbishing it...it's a different game to mens footy, so stop comparing it to that, and just enjoy !

Not having a go or anything, but I don't really follow either the BBC or Guardian's coverage of women's football with purpose so I'm genuinely curious – how is their coverage sexist?

It's shite but the hilarity of the goalkeeping makes it watchable at times. Some of the outfield play isn't bad from the little I've seen, but the goalies are bloody dreadful.

I think folk overstate how good it is. The keepers are on another level but from what I have seen it is all poor. In stark contrast to many other female sports that are great to watch such as tennis & athletics.

The outfield players at least seem to have balance and technique, whether they'd manage to beat a Sunday League team is another thing. However, the goalies look like they're the fat mate they've asked to go in nets because the real keeper is ill

I've played small sided games against women who have played at the third and fourth tiers of womens football, and they were blooming good, especially if you like a good technical approach, with swift, progressive decision making.
I think those players would atruggle physically against a local league side and the way those games are refereed (although there was something mildly embarassing about being flattened by a woman when going up for a high ball)...but, why should it be judged in comparison to the mens game anyway? When I cheered Katarina Johnson-Thompson on to a new British Womens High Jump record earlier this year, nobody was saying, "well, thats pointless and rubbish, theres British men jumping more than a foot higher".
Similarly I'm sure nobody would expect even the greatest and most dominant female tennis player to even break into the top 100 of the mens game.
Why not just watch it for what it is, realise youre watching footballers at a World Cup who are better players than anyone on DATM, it might look a bit rubbish/different because we're used to watching the mens game...but its a decent sport in and of itself.
And lets face it, in this country at least, if youre a schoolgirl, and not into hockey, theres not that many TEAM sports you can get involved in and know theres going to be a decent structure and all the social interactions that go with that. Girls tend to gravitate to gymnastics, swimming and athletics if theyre 'sporty'...so making a team sport like football more appealing and accessible to young girls by giving it TV coverage HAS to be a good thing doesnt it?

In 2005, the European championships were held in the North of England. I went to a couple of games at Warrington, including the semi between Sweden and Norway. Both sides very evenly matched made for a brilliant game of football, pure football, not as powerful or as quick as the men's game, but enjoyable as a spectacle. It finished 3-2 to Norway after extra time and the fact both teams just PLAYED THE GAME, no cheating, diving made it all the more enjoyable. My views changed a bit from then on, it's just a bit different and you can't compare the two, but a the top level it's a decent standard.
