You just knew it.

That miss by France on 115 minutes was fkn huge. She had basically half an open goal and time - shocking miss.

That might have some semblance of credence if men didn't miss just as easy chances.

England women back in it. Although the American TV coverage said they had 6 shots, 0 on goal and only 4 wide. where did the other 2 go i wonder.

For all the comments on here about the game (and from my point of view, the excessive Media coverage of it) I'm still chuffed rotten for the players to have secured 3rd place - well done!!

It's developed massive in last ten years, miles away from men's game though.

Why the obsession with comparing it with the men's game?
Either enjoy it for what it is or switch it off.

For the last couple of years the BBC has been pushing women's football massively. But, that's just until it gets a bit more popular by which time Sky/BT will buy the sole rights!

Why the obsession with comparing it with the men's game? Either enjoy it for what it is or switch it off. That's a good point and I think various parties have been hamming up the link to the men's World Cup.... The bbc for example... And the gaffer comparing it to 66 ... I don't think that's helpful to be honest.. As it then leads people like nick to question whether women's football should exist in the first place because the players don't have the athleticism or skill of their male counterparts.. My opinion is just judge it on its own merits.. Stop thinking about it as a second rate brand..it is what it is.. Women's football.. And for my money it's been pretty damn good in the last two weeks

Another one is this Bassett 'error' for the own goal v Japan.
BBC were banging on all night about how we need to put it behind us and move on. The best way to do that is surely not to keep banging on about it.

Waheyyy, Sid the sexist MkII.
Dominated by Japan? England were the better team v Japan and unlucky to lose.

I've been watching it on Eurosport - the BBC coverage is inept.
