Already signed Darren Bent and Alex Pearce, neither of whom will have come cheaply. Now they are after Tom Ince in a permanent contract which will break their current transfer record, so it will be over £3.5m. The rest of their squad is also made up of big names who certainly won't be playing for peanuts. I know that they have big gates, but they failed to make the money-spinning play-offs last season, so when are FFP going to come knocking?! Not that such a threat will bother them very much, I suppose ...

hope it wont come to a dispute with the clubs..

FFP? Forget it Roger, it ain't happening. Everybody's just taking the piss now. Except Town. Not that I would want us to throw the cash around, it just all seems so ridiculously unfair. I just hope that there will indeed come a day when these huge-spending clubs really are brought to book and are punished to an almost crippling state, or even liquidated. Grrrrrrrrr!

Significantly larger gates and with that probably much higher sponsorship, etc.
Still sound to be pushing it though!

I just hope that there will indeed come a day when these huge-spending clubs really are brought to book and are punished to an almost crippling state, or even liquidated. Grrrrrrrrr! Burnley complied with FFP rules and earned promotion on a "shoestring" budget two years ago - so it can be done.
In 2013/14, Burnley's wage bill was £15 million (14th highest in the championship) while Bournemouth, who finished 10th, had a wage bill of £17 million despite a turnover of only £10 million - that's a £7 million loss to start with!!!
Despite the new, relaxed FFP rules, clubs like Derby can still only make a loss of £13 million a season (it was £8 million before the rules were changed), so signing players like Ince, Bent and Pearce on huge wages won't leave them much more room for manoeuvre.
Derby are gambling a second year in a row (it hit them really hard as they expected to go up this season after finishing 3rd the season before), but some of their "stars" from 2013/14 won't even be in the team next season with the arrival of Ince, Bent & Co.
One of the displaced is Craig Bryson - Burnley tried to sign him last summer and he was set to join until Derby sat him down and offered him a new FIVE-YEAR deal at £20,000-a-week. I think they did the same with Richard Keogh, who is now set to be replaced by Pearce.
Unless they go up this season, it could be a disaster for the Rams.

Aside from Norwich Derby have the biggest home average gates, so they must have a decent budget, how do you people know they are flouting FFP?

Neither do they know if FFP will be effective or not - it is very early days. It is being criticised above for being retrospective; the only way it can work. I was disappointed with the dilution applied to FFP, but will wait for it to be actually enforced over a couple of seasons before judging.

Dean Hoyle spoke in a Q&A session towards the tail end of last season, making points about clubs who have flouted the FFP rules and would be in serious financial difficulties if they failed to gain promotion. He refused to name names, but did smile and add that we were playing one such team that very day; the game was against Derby County.

The 'football authorities' ARE the clubs. It's self-regulation, with all the difficulties that implies.

Ipswich are another who apparently stick to FFP rules and came close to going up, so it can be done.

Derby just picked up Wigan's Scott Carson too - for an undisclosed fee. Won't be peanuts, neither will his wages.

Think you could be barking up the wrong tree here Mansfield, Derby are the best supported club in this division, would it not make sense that they could afford a large playing budget? Players like Craig Bryson, Jeff Hendrick came through the junior ranks, Richard Keogh didn't cost them much and I don't recall a lot of their current squad being expensively assembled. A few seasons ago they were posting a playing budget not much bigger than ours. I'm not really sure even with these new signings that they are flouting fair play rules. There also seems to be a habit of stating that clubs are living beyond their means if they make a few big money signings....if they make another 5 big money signings then I might be inclined to agree with you.

Taking the piss a bit with some of their signings. I will laugh so much if they somehow fail to get up again
No doubt Clement will be seen as some sort of managerial god if he gets them up despite basically buying promotion

In fact, for the last three seasons their wage bill has gone down and their final league position has got better.

Weimann on a four-year deal on PL wages and soon to be 33-year-old Baird on a three-year deal (including one-year option) on almost certain PL wages. Carson will be similar - I don't know about Alex Pearce.
I hope for Derby's sake they go up this season.
