Danny Ward not even on bench, injured, Rover rum v Wendies on sky He's only started 10 games since he joined in January.. Rotherham bit part player, and to think some fans wanted an internal enquiry when the club got rid?

Nice little piece on Sky sports news this morning featuring the kit men from Man City and United before their derby game. Man city's kit man is one Les Chapman, formally of this parish. I hoped theyd show the goal against Arsenal in our top flight days, but obviously football didn't exist pre- 1992. Once had some treatment for a back injury at Man City's training ground, with their physio. I was lying on treatment table next to their (then) keeper Nicky Weaver. Told him I was a Town fan. He was laughing, saying their kit man Les Chapman kept telling them he played for Town and had a decent shot on him. Told him it was all true. It was. Excellent player, Les.

Only one to be fair Amazed he's not in anybody's 'Best XI under Hoyle'... seeing as he is one of Town's 'best ever players in the last 40 years'. Very odd.

Always liked left wingers, mainly because that's what I was when I used to play, a goal-scoring left winger with a good shot on me! Mike O'Grady was the first one for me, followed by Brian Hill, then the wonderful Colin Dobson and then Les Chapman. I remember Les Chapman well, scored some crackers, the ones against Arsenal and the third against Fulham in the FA Cup in particular. I once had a photo of Les from Goal magazine (remember it?) and I took it to the hairdressers and said I wanted my hair cut like Les's!

Passion and kicking yeah. We haven't got it now, Nick, come on. Birmingham have improved so much since Clark was sacked, they're now in the top 6. We are now competing in a higher division with teams spending several millions on individual players. He isn't a good manager, just accept it.

I agree he's not a top manager but he did good at Town, some exciting times.

But that was down to having a shed load of money in a division with Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Yeovil, etc. We're now in a league with bigger and much richer clubs than Town, so we might not win as many games, but it's much better.
Take Tuesday night, for example. Jt was a shit match, but we won. That was a one off in the championship. Since we got promoted 3 years ago, we've had to earn wins. Tuesday was one of the few times since we got promoted that I've thought, we only won because the opposition was shit. It happened all the time in the league 1 days.

Don't you agree that it was very entertaining times though with a very decent attacking team ? I can sort of see he might struggle now but it's depressing watching us huff and puff now.

That's down to the quality of the opposition. If we were in the premier league and stayed up and stayed up by a whisker for lets say 5 seasons, it would be better, but we would only win about ten games a season, but the joy I personally would get over beating Newcastle, Sunderland or whoever would beat winning against Port Vale and Burton Albion. Likewise I wouldn't be as pissed off losing to Man United as I was losing to Walsall. Lets not forget Powell got out of league 1 with 101 points, in the same season Lee Clark got sacked.

A team with no creativity at all in midfield. I can't think why any owner would employ Clark looking at his previous record of failing in all 3 jobs hes had.

Nick how much of a player improving (or deteriorating ) is about the manager and how much is about the player himself ? Thinking its a balancing act, and about having confidence nurtured too, it wasn't at our club.
