ludicrous decisions to get rid of Coady and Gobern, the two most skilful midfielders. There was real potential to build on from last season and now powell has thrown it away, making the classic mistake of thinking that you improve a team by buying new players. you don't - you improve it by developing the team you have and adding one or two more here and there.

Your point is invalid.

"Neither of em wanted to be here" ? Really !
Gobern wanted to stay but wanted a better contract than we were offering, Not done enough for me to warrant one, Correct decision from Town.
Coadys agent wanted a better contract for his client, Spoke with Town, Discovered his valuation and then hawked his client around, No release clause in his original contract, Just a gentlemans agreement.
The lad was worth keeping hold of and a wage rise for 12 months imo, He will be worth at least 4M next summer. Wrong decision by Town.

Blatant wind-up, but go on then - I think Gobern has all the makings of a great player, but he had enough chances to do it at Town and didn't manage it on a regular basis. When Coady first arrived, I thought he was head and shoulders above the rest of our midfielders and would go on to be a great player but he seemed to go backwards, literally and metaphorically, in his time with us. I don't understand football well enough to be able to work out whether this was due to the role that he was being asked to play or just that he wasn't actually as good as I had initially thought. So Gobern, shame it didn't happen for him / us but on your way son and Coady, shame we won't get to see him blossom, but at least selling him has funded the club's losses for a few months - needs must! Billing, your time is now.

Neither were fit to lace Butterfield's boots on a skilful level.

89' Coady strides forward from midfield before finding the run of Afobe. Striker bears down on goal and finishes smartly.
Crowd 22k+ for a friendly v Villa.

Was a good match. I fkn hate referees being more lenient for friendlies though. If it's a booking it's a booking. If it's the last man it should be red. Stearman should have been sent off for Wolves well before he put an end to Agbonlahor's pre-season. Much of the game passed Coady by I thought. Villa were much the better team.

Ankle ligaments. Limped off but looked a sore one.

Will be interesting to see how they get on this season. Seem to be going down the Newcastle route of shopping in France

Had the sound off because we were watching Child Genius but I did hear mention of the French connection. They've just signed a Spanish defender too. Thought Bacuna, the Dutch lad, had a decent game.
