As an aside, the new Leeds home kit (no sponsor) looks quite classy.

Are we going to give a Leeds to the crowd too? 'Terriers' on the back would be a nice touch Or the players names ( possibly in red and yellow ;D ) Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

I much preferred Leeds United's first ever kit. Quality! As I always pointed out at the deckchair and tesco carrier bag comments from their fans about our kit. Their first shirt sponsors also had a helpful acronym so everyone knew they were a set of 'Right F...... W......'

I'm sure that everyone knows the story behind LU, but for those that don't the brief version is that they rose from the financial ashes of Leeds City (who also had a pretty decent kit - sorry!) and their new owners/backers were Town directors who simply took Town kit which they wore 1919 to 1934.

Looking forward to this match as its the first visit to Huddersfield and the John Smiths stadium for my wife who is originally from Cape town S Africa. Maybe a lucky omen as she has never seen town loose away on our many away trips which I talked her into going plus Wembley . Just been looking at Deportivo's recent high scoring away wins , and their very impressive 2-2 home draw with Barcelona.

Wondered who we'd be playing for our home friendly.. Should be a good test. Ath.Bilbao, Real Sociadad, Barca B & now Deportivo will have had chance to grace the hallow turf at the JSS! I forgot, Real Betis played here aswell.

He's right though .. no sponsor equals retro look No sponsor = winding up petition One thing some clubs have done abroad is release a kit for the new season in May/June without a sponsor. Then, when a new sponsor is announced, released the full kit complete with sponsor's logo around August. I suggested this to Sean Jarvis when he revealed the release date of the new kit would be after most people wanted to buy the shirt to show off on holiday and he said he'd look into the possibilities in the future. You'd get the choice of a retro, sponsor-free shirt for a few weeks and then the normal one would replace it in the shops. Best of both worlds, doubt we'd lose sales. Some odd-balls may even buy both
