No sponsor = winding up petition One thing some clubs have done abroad is release a kit for the new season in May/June without a sponsor. Then, when a new sponsor is announced, released the full kit complete with sponsor's logo around August. I suggested this to Sean Jarvis when he revealed the release date of the new kit would be after most people wanted to buy the shirt to show off on holiday and he said he'd look into the possibilities in the future. You'd get the choice of a retro, sponsor-free shirt for a few weeks and then the normal one would replace it in the shops. Best of both worlds, doubt we'd lose sales. Some odd-balls may even buy both Surely you'd get way less for the shirt sponsorship deal though? Can't imagine anyone with any sense paying the same when half the people walking round then don't have the sponsor on the shirt?

Not sure how much exposure a sponsor gets from the fans wearing the kit, more the tv/media coverage so can't see why it would reduce the price significantly given that the sort of people who buy a new kit regularly are more likely to want the sponsored version as that's the one which is the 'true' kit. I actually doubt a sponsor-free version would sell many at all and it would have to be a limited run given the small window of sale but it would at least give fans a choice. And if the sponsor was really that desperate about getting their name out there they should've had a deal wrapped up and announced weeks ago so they could've had the kit out on sale before the away kit with a different sponsor. I wonder how many people who only buy 1 kit will have opted for the first to go out on sale rather than wait for the home one with a new sponsor? One thing it could actually discourage is the latest trend of just using template designs for kits by the big manufacturers though that may lead to more effort and less profits so would doubtless be a non-starter

I think the sponsor-free attraction would only work if the kit was going for a retro approach (which L666 ಊ(╯◣︵ ◢╰)Ψ etc..etc..ds have done), otherwise it might just look like a 2015 kit with a sponsor missing. On the subject of it though I find it weird from a business point of view to go into a new shirt launch window without a main sponsor already signed up. Perhaps it's a diffucult climate to get the figures Town reckon the deal is worth but you'd think with 6 months to go and Rekorderlig informing they won't renew that it would be all hands to the pump to get a new one tied up so the shirts can be sold over the summer for people's jollies. Show me an Excel spreadsheet that shows it's more financially beneficial to launch a new kit just before the season starts rather than having it on sale over the summer and I'll show you a superlopez who has any inside info on transfers (does he still post here?)
With shirts having a 1 year cycle why aren't they on sale over their first summer? How many 14/15 shirts do you think have been sold at full price this summer when people know a new one is coming?
If we need to be frugal and smart with every penny to succeed at this level (and if Dean's wants to write off a bit less from his fortune each year) this balls up needs to be addressed. We've been doing the same for 3 years?
My opinion of course – that spreadsheet may exist...

Just think it would give them a bit of wiggle room to negotiate it down, which given our finances isn't really ideal.

Ive reserved critisism of the preseason so far on here and although I know this is still only another pre season game I hope we put in a good performance against good opposition on home soil. So therefore I'm going 1-4 deportivo ? UTT

I stopped going to pre season games after almost being bored to death against Coventry a few years back, should be a good work out for us tommorow chasing the ball for 90 minutes. Everyone can then go into meltdown over the new kit !! Roll on Hull a week on Saturday !!!

You mean stupid question... I will tell you what it is stupid. Having your team chase shadows for 90 minutes whilst being comprehensively outplayed, outpassed and outmanoeuvred. Not the best preparation for the season opener. Yes, but at least we can now forget about Grimsby and Rochdale and concentrate on DLC

Obviously not bothered about the result tomorrow but I think (and am hoping) we'll put a good performance in. The last 2 games have obviously been rubbish but how much the players were actually committed is questionable. It's easy to say they should be up for every game but in all honesty it was Grimsby away and a weakened Rochdale side but I think at home against a good side will see us perform much better regardless of the result.

Well it's like November up here at the moment, damp, foggy and cold. Shirt doesn't go on sale until Thursday either Suggy! Actually... (Quote from Town Official website): Huddersfield Town’s 2015/16 PUMA home kit will be revealed by the players at the Club’s home pre-season friendly against Deportivo de La Coruna on Wednesday 29 July! The new home shirt, which will sport the logo of new home shirt sponsors PURE Legal Limited, will be revealed by the players on the pitch when they take off their new walk-out jackets on the pitch ahead of kick-off.
As soon as the players reveal the home shirt, it will be available to buy online at htafcmegastore.com. The Stadium Superstore will be closed during the game, but will re-open at the final whistle.
If fans order online before the start of half-time, their kit will be ready to pick up outside the Stadium Superstore after the full-time whistle!

That said though I am trying to organise at least a fortnight of preseason games for my Baseball team, either this season or next, the main reason being that they are played in Florida

baseball.. rounders with protective hats and gloves? Squeezed in a game (my first) whilst over in the states to see my sister in May. Have to say the yanks know how to put on show albeit completely over the top and bloated. Made me think maybe we could get behind the team a little more for a measly 90 minutes when they make a half hour game of rounders last well in excess of 3 hours! Still more drinking time! Always a silver cloud (or something like that!) UTT
