Its as dull as ditch water, nothing has really happened, neither team has really created anything. I thought we'd gone a goal down when I noticed you'd posted

Sounds as if Dempsey could possibly have had a pen there...

Clean sheet with Wallace at the heart of the defence. Those who went, how was he?

Wallace played first half and Lynch replaced him for the second.
Edit - Hudson not Wallace was subbed at half time

Wallace played first half and Lynch replaced him for the second. 9:28 PMTwitter Huddersfield Town @htafcdotcom 80' #htafc 0-0 Deportivo: a firm header clear from @murraywallace1 again from a cross; he's had a solid game this evening (DTS)

The Deportivo At The Mac will be in meltdown.
Couldn't score against some no mark second tier English club.
Should be putting four past these.

Wallace played first half and Lynch replaced him for the second. According to Town's Twitter Lynch replaced Hudson and Wallace played all game.

0-0 FT
From an outsiders POV that's a good result that is.
Sounds like the lads had a good run-out, Wallace continues to improve, Dempsey continues to impress.
Would be interested on opinion re the possible penalty.

Twitter also described the game as entertaining. I read it twice but could find no reference to dish, ditch or indeed water. UTT

However dull it may have been, it certainly reads better than getting turned over convincingly by Grimsby

Kit looks awful, like Coventry City. Not a town blue.
Davidson looks very good, best player IMO.
Dempsey gave it away a few times but some good bits too.
A nothing game.

Wallace played all game. Dempsey best Town player. Town looked organised. Dempsey best town player? First half for every good thing he did, he played a poor pass or was caught in the ball, second half seemed to be a passenger. He has some way to go before he can be said best town player, but has potential. Best town player today was Davison, looks a quality signing

Looks a bit of a tit modelling the kit though.

What sort of player does Davidson look like? A solid defender who won't get forward much or one who doesn't care much for defending but looks good on the ball and good going forward?

Definite potential though. On one showing against a La Liga side, I'd say Dempsey and Whitehead aren't an immeditate upgrade on Gobern and Coady. Obviously a very unfair and early comparison though!

My take:
Smithies - nowt to do Davidson - looks athletic, strong, all left foot though. Wallace - played well, kept it simple didn't get turned or caught ball watching like he usually does Hudson - gave the ball away a couple of times didn't have much to do Smith - got away with assaulting their winger just as he was about to be toasted. Needs to really kick on or will not make it as a championship right back as exposed by pace and has poor positional sense at times Butterfield - town's best player for me, would have looked just as comfortable in the deportivo side Whitehead - looks heavier than I remember from his premier league days but that is to be expected with his age, played a disciplined role in front of the back four and this helped Hudson and Wallace immeasurably as they were never really exposed to players running directly at them with pace. If Whitehead starts for us every week there is no way we will concede anything like the number of goals we did last year but we will also not score as many either. Dempsey - looked decent, played with confidence in his home debut, had a ew balls cut out which led to Deportivo counter attacks but looks like an established player not a young kid. Scannell - quiet game for him but looked a lot better when Lynch came on and started hitting him with cross field balls Wells - worked hard and looked lively and dangerous, also looked a bit stronger than last year. Hiwula - looked quick but struggled to get involved at times and lacks the strength of older more established players. I imagine he will be an impact substitute to begin the season.
Subs Lynch - powerful and played well with Wallace. Nice to see Hogg and Vaughan fit Lolley looked to be really working on his defensive duties, will need to prove that he can defend or the right back will frequently exposed down that flank. Wilkinson and Hammill - I expected problems down that side when they came on but they did well and caused more problems than the first choice did. Cranie - didn't do much or see much ball so difficult to comment Holmes - got five minutes Murphy - nowt to do.
Deportivo - looked extremely dangerous on the break but pedestrian after they made five subs in the second half, their full back actually looked stronger than Scannell which was amazing really and they had two players who were like split sh!t - just ask Tommy Smith!

Good post, agree with most of it, apart from whitehead, he was shocking kept giving the ball away, would rather hogg in that position
