Happy with the starting 11 now let's see how we line up.

I'm hoping this becomes the norm for us now under Powell. Butterfield a little deeper with a genuine number 10 ahead of him. I'm not saying he can't play there, course he can, but I feel we can get more out of him (and us as a unit) with another attack minded player in there. Away from home in the league I can accept us having two defensive minded midfielders alongside him, but so many times last season it was all down to Jacob or Scannell to get us going. With another forward thinking lad in there, I'd expect us to create more chances.
Big chance then today for Joe Lolley.

How do we feel we will line up today? What I like about our squad is that there is so much versatility, you can look at the named 11 and still not have a clue what formation we're going to use or where everyone is going to play. Good to keep opposing managers guessing and it also gives us lots of options to change things around on the pitch during a game without the need for subs. Which given Powell's seeming dislike of subs has to be a good thing.

Rochdale are fielding their second XI first half, according to their supporters.

If we can get hold of the ball in the first place and reclaim it from start offs. Can't play without the ball especially with a small team. Got to get that tempo higher than the opposition and maintain it.

Disappointed to see Dempsey dropped to the bench, one of our best players last time out and created one of our few goals in pre-season.

Smith left back.
Losing 1-0 after Cranie smashed it out for a throw in, before Hudson (I think) beaten in the air.

Calvin Andrew I think we may well be in need of some better defenders, a striker with 23 goals in 269 games Yes I know it's only a friendly

Doesn't matter if it's a friendly or not. Get Dempsey on FFS.

2-0.
Nice goal from their perspective, lolley gave it away in their half but no challenge on their players...

Town are struggling for rhythm here. Can't string 3 passes together. Rochdale are playing 3 at the back, we line up 4-4-1-1 I think. Lolley just behind wells.

My bro-in-law at Rochdale says our defence is shit......hope the Aussie can bolster things up ...knew he wud go sort of 4-2-3-1(one striker shit) away ffs...we need 2 out and out strikers and look bette in that sort of 3-5-2

Town scrimping on defence will be our ultimate downfall. You can only get away with conceding a stupid amount of goals for so long. How many was it last season, 70+?

Cracking freekick.
If it wasn't a friendly, their defender would have walked off
