Watching the goal by Bobby Charlton I think people are underestimating how long Town have been incapable of defending

Well thanks for reminding me of the most depressed I've ever been after a game.

A week before my 18th Birthday. Remember that one game more than any other. Stood on East Terrace. Just wanted to see Denis Law , who I swear to this day was offside. Had forgotten how involved Jimmy McGill was in their 3rd ,free kick given away then that awful back pass.

43,000 in attendance at Leeds Road. All paid in, actually in the ground, not tickets given away or non attendees counted. One of three 40000 plus attendances that season, one of which was against Stoke! Take note Queeny twinny bilo etc bantam.

The following season 1971 / 72 saw us lose to Man. Utd. 0-3 in front of 33,458. Just to give you an idea of the core fan base, just 9,459 turned up to watch us lose 0-1 to Nottingham Forest in the very next home league match. Some things don't seem to alter.

This was the only time ever (honest) that I climbed up a tree behind the open air end and sneaked in for free. It didn't make the result any more palatable though.

For our friends down the road however we pulled in 43,011.

I remember that game well. My parents deemed me old enough to go on my own for the first time that season. Although a Town fan it was great to see Booby Charlton and Denis Law live.

Dunno what Smithies is doing for that first goal. He's in no man's land. Any goalie worth his salt would be claiming a cross like that in his six yard box!
