Should we be expecting our kids to beat Brighouse? They've improved a fair bit in recent years and have some good players who are far stronger and more physical than our lot. Not an easy game by any means In a competitive game, our under 21s should be expected to comfortably beat them. They are in division 7 (and the divisions below the conference are regionalised, so God knows how many teams are in the 6th and 7th division). Its usually our under 18s who play them and they beat them. Anyway, its only a friendly.

So why can't our players win a game like this.

The honest reply is that 18/19/20 year old lads who train and play all week should be good enough and strong enough.. the professional leagues have dozens of 18/19 year old starters..
this pre season has the half arsed look that has permeated the club on occasions over the past couple of years.. its not always the easiest thing to get out of...

Town should be ashamed. They should not be losing to a step 8 team....even the reserves or under-21s

Oh, and on the Brighouse Town homepage it states "if you fancy a trial get in touch". Probably updated tomorrow with "unless you have been on Huddersfield Towns books"

Tronstad, Billing, Charles et al still got a long way to go before they're ready for the 1st team, then, I gather.

Don't underestimate Brighouse Town. As I was saying to Gary and Phil Neville ( oh and Neville Neville ), along with Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt in January when we saw off Salford City 3-1. You probably don't want to hear this, but they were all top blokes, signing autographs for the kids, and chatting to anyone in the vicinity.

At the risk of being negative.....it ain't saying much for billing, tronstadt, Charles and Holmes when they are chosen to play at brig house rather than the bench at Rochdale last Saturday?! Some strange goings on with some of our young lads IMO........not many go out on loan, few are involved in the last pre season game etc.......I know the season is only in it's infancy, but surely we should be expecting more?

I know this is pre season but it is worrying when not only the first team but the under 21s are getting beaten by lower opposition. It looks as though it will be a long hard season ahead just to survive.

Your right we should all the lads you mentioned are very good players but Powell doesn't seem to want use them even in the main pre season games 15/20 minutes would surely give these lads a taste of football with the the first team in a match environment. As I said in another thread I'm very pro academy and want to see these lads in and around the first team squad but if not then they must go out on loan to progress as they have done all they can do at u21 level.

So despite the fact that the U21's have had two highly successful seasons over the past few years, we are laying into them because they lost in a friendly to fucking Brighouse?
I should ban some of you for being so immeasurably stupid, most of you on this thread didn't even know it was the U21s playing tonight! Where were your comments of support when they were trashing teams on a regular basis in the 13/14 and 14/15 seasons? Obviously success is not as interesting to some of you as failure.
This club has some fucking hopeless fans, and I use the term 'fans' very loosely.

It's the worst pre season on this board I've ever known. The level of shite that's been posted is beyond embarrassing. If I ever become an admin, ALOT of life time bans will be handed out. And I'm not even joking. Make it so. Im not particularly worried about this pre-season but if some people are thats fair enough im all for freedom of speech and down with the thought police.......but you're right lots of shite on this forum but wots new

Also, when will people get to grips with the fact that pre season results never have, and never will have any bearing or indication whatsoever on a forthcoming season?
For every team that has had a bad pre season followed By a bad season, there is a team that has had an amazing pre season followed By a shite season, and vice versa. It means absolutely nothing.

However, you are so right. You don't see the travelling bigot and the like posting on the development thread congratulating another successful season. Some are just negative, but others seem to almost revel in it. People say fans are the only loyal ones in football. That's crap, simply not changing allegiance isn't loyal.

I do however wonder why 4 lads who have featured in the championship were involved tonight but not at Rochdale? Maybe it's to get them extra game time.......it just seems somewhat strange to me as a "fucking hopeless fan"!

With a decline in season ticket sales the club will be relying on pay on the day customers. With the ridiculous pricing structure I think they're relying on ripping off the away fans rather than trying to tempt casual fans back on a regular basis.

Those are alarmingly short odds in my view.

The odds mean nothing, someone posted on here the other day, a table from last season that was based on where bookies said teams would finish, they got two teams right.

that word 'ignorant' has come up again..
for me you can use all sorts of language on posting sites but that word and the supercillious and smart arsed use of it on here by people who we know from seeing their hundreds/thousands of posts are as fucking clueless as the rest of us, is annoying to the extreme.
Sheriff for an administrator the above is bordering on the fucking ridicluous..taking the piss or arguing a point is one thing, seriously wanting to hand out bans to people who simply dont agree that Town are marvellous, the results never really matter and the academy is producing football playing Titans by the score?? is a joke and at its very worst undemocratic/free..
Clearly it can soon go back to being 'your site' where you share 'in jokes' with each other and call each other a few 'pet names' and you can all agree we are doing much better than we have done for a a good number of years and leave it at that...
Town as a whole look half arsed in the friendlies, thats a fact.. not building up, not getting fit(the kids got outrun by part timers) obviously the management are fooling all the championship teams into a false sense of security and the master strokes will be played from August 8th onwards.
The results in friendlies are not important, the performance and fitness or total lack of either and zero defensive organisation on show, certainly does..
can we ban the use of the words IGNORANT/STUPID etc from the site, its much worse than calling someone a c-nt, if they are actually being one..

It's this sort of time of pre season where players start needing more than 45mins so we simply can't use 11 players in each half in every friendly. Look at the likes of Boyle, 45 mins for reserves last night. 45 mins for first team tonight. He was never going to be playing 90mins for first team tonight so playing for u21s builds up his game time.

I'm still re-reading his post to double check I'm not misinterpreting it. It's that pathetic. Fans who post concern at getting beaten by grimsby, Rochdale and Brighouse are "hopeless". Wow talk about a power trip! Sheriff you are a moderator on a message board pal. Your job is to delete swear words and make the place look tidy, not to shove your opinion down people's throats and threaten bans when it differs to yours. Bring back Bolton terrier, he ran this place properly

Always find it amusing how quickly people's views can do a 180 degree change. A quick look at the Summer Transfer Thread and our U21s are being held back by Powell's refusal to play them, then on here they're a hopeless. In the majority of cases both of these opinions have been arrived at without ever actually seeing any of them play.
