Always a bit surprised at the stick Robins gets. Amazed at the stick Grayson gets. I dont think Robins kept us up as I think Grayson would have kept us up, but Robins did reasonably well with the resources available to him after taking over. I agree with you Marr, but where Robins really failed for me, was in the transfer market

I agree about his transfers, but it was the early ones like Paterson and Stead he got wrong. He also signed Butterfield, Lolley and Coadie (?) Not had a problem with any of the last few managers. All done well at other clubs and all done as well as can be expected in terms of league positions, bearing in mind what we are up against in this division.

Maybe DH is asking the managers to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. You take a look at the team since Clarke left. The back four problem has yet to be resolved. We still ship too many goals. Some parts of the field have been strengthened but others are still way short of being able to cement HTFC in mid table. We keep bob bob bobbing along on the bottom.

And we stuck 4 past a team that is now playing in the Premier League. Did we?? No. 3. Apologies.

The only good thing about the Bournemouth game was a post on this forum which went something like "The season was going so well for 30 seconds" , brilliant. I just hope this sort of comment is not repeated after the Hull game!

Not history if the same ongoing defence problem. But powell has had money to spend.. enough to buy a decent CB if he wanted. If he hasnt sorted the issue then how can it be that the board is at fualt, he's the manager and in charge of who comes in and what priority I do think crooks in defence was a bit of a 'protest' by robins (or more likely...creating excuses for himself..as he felt the pressure), but again, robins had the opportunity to sign a CB. He could quite easily have passed on coady, used gobern there and spent the money on a CB. I dont feel the resentment towards robins.. think he was OK myself..not great..but kept us up...would have made things easier had he walked 3 months earlier but i wasnt calling for him to leave last summer

We've had a lot worse than Robins and Grayson before, thats for sure. I'm pretty grateful for Powell as well to be honest

If there was any doubt as to how average a manager Robins is, just look at his current club and how crap a season they had last season and no doubt what a crap forthcoming season they'll have.

Considering Robins took over when they were three points adrift in the relegation zone and finished in 16th place, I doubt many Irons fans were complaining.

Judging a manager on their future record is a new one even for you.

Rotherham had a big points deduction and he nearly got the in the playoffs. Barnsley aren't an easy team to keep in the championship, but he did it, Coventry were rock bottom when he took over and in just a few months, they were close to the playoffs and Scunthorpe were also rock bottom when he took over. Not a bad CV at all. Same with Grayson and more importantly, with Powell.

It just happens he's generally gone in to clubs in danger. Top teams dont (as) often hire new managers and he's not really stayed at clubs long enough to turn them into promotions...he's no pep but certainly wouldnt write him off getting a promotion at a club with a good squad
