Dont get me wrong, I'm not a big Robins fan (but I did rate him highly before he came), but he wasn't that bad. I agree about his transfers, but it was the early ones like Paterson and Stead he got wrong. He also signed Butterfield, Lolley and Coadie (?) Not had a problem with any of the last few managers. All done well at other clubs and all done as well as can be expected in terms of league positions, bearing in mind what we are up against in this division. Maybe DH is asking the managers to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. You take a look at the team since Clarke left. The back four problem has yet to be resolved. We still ship too many goals. Some parts of the field have been strengthened but others are still way short of being able to cement HTFC in mid table. We keep bob bob bobbing along on the bottom. But to be fair, since Clarke left, we have signed Hudson (I believe for a significant fee?) and his wages will not be cheap. He was the one I think we all thought would come in and martial the defence. Unfortunately this hasn't happened (yet) and the captain's still got 12 months on his deal.

Grayson would have kept us up? ! 7 points off relegation zone, 16th place in table. Just played 6 of the eventual top 8, players coming back from injury. I reckon we'd have stayed up. My opinion of Robins would certainly have changed if we'd gone down, cos we were in a good position to stay up, already when he took over. I know we were on a nad run, but a bad run is a bad run.

Town don't spend money on defenders!

I remember Nick starting a thread on it in 1992 "Ross boss loss who gives a toss " I wonder what DATM would have been like back then if it had been in existence? A damn sight worse than it is now I would have though.

Jamie McCombe cost about £250k, plus Peltier cost money first time around. Didn't Lynch or Gerrard cost a fee as well?

He may not have been the most exciting but always seemed a decent bloke. He had a vision, it didn't come off. Not may managers have the pride and morals to hold their hands up and quit. No doubt he missed out on a payout and could have terminally harmed his career.
Compare him to the likes of Wadsworth and the animosity towards him is absurd.

I know some of them may have been out of position but the players didn't look like they wanted to play for him at that first Bournemouth match, or they were chronically unprepared. Either way it didn't look good and the general atmosphere seemed to be deteriorating toward end of previous season.

"nominal" may be a key word in that sentence.
