Why are we wasting away one of our most exciting players we've had in years? He needs to start getting game time or he will be gone and we will have missed out big time. He was fully fit today and not even on the bench so what is happening with him?

Scandalous if fit and not on the bench. I don't believe he was fit.

Sometimes I wonder if Powell would prefer to field a team of defenders to scrape a point. Usually every match, I wonder this.

So we have hammill who Powell has made clear he doesnt want at the club on the bench - evidenced further by not using him when scannell was hardly able to run and mot involved
Lolley fit and had a good pre season and he still doesnt get involved
Hiwula still working out how many different positions he was asked to play on tues

I get the feeling that a lot of our players are now unhappy and couldn't give a fuck about the club, and I don't really blame them.
Powell's lack of subs is one thing. Whereas most of the time a player would be thinking they'll be needed at some point, for us they know they are just there because its the rules and its incredibly unlikely they'll actually get used because Powell never actually makes a damn substitution, and when he does it makes no sense.
Then there's the negative style and constant self-pity. I don't know how players think but I would assume the more attacking/creative players would also be the most impatient, energetic, and cocky. If we as fans get frustrated seeing the slow, boring play then imagine how frustrating it must be sat there on the bench (or maybe not even that) and watching it knowing that you should be out there making a difference but your manager just won't have any of it.
No wonder we're seeing a lot of rumours that the younger kids have "attitude problems". I'd be getting quite pissed off too with the way things are at the moment if I was them.

Because lolley is exciting and attacking and our manager is defensive and boring. So scared of losing the game

Joe was the best player I saw in preseason, I was disappointed he was injured for the game at Hull. So if this is true and he was fit but not in the squad it is a disgrace.
I have had it with Powell and his negative philosophy,

No wonder we're seeing a lot of rumours that the younger kids have "attitude problems". I'd be getting quite pissed off too with the way things are at the moment if I was them. I'd argue that your opening statement isn't justified at all throughout the rest of your piece. I think there is no way for any of us to assume anything about the level of morale in the dressing room. What I sincerely hope however, is that our players don't come on here, to hear nasty and unjustified criticisms of their manager - it just doesn't help. A post like yours is so pointless at the end of the day, isn't it? What does it contribute to the development of the football club? Is isn't constructive. Any fan should care about participating in the direction of their club by constructively criticising, not making assumptions. If you care to read my posts in the "Powell's tactics a disgrace" thread, I offer an alternative voice to the oh-so-surprisingly not constructive "negative style". I'm baffled by the "constant self-pity" - your post is more suggestive of that than any interview I've ever heard Powell give! Is it just because his accent is different, and voice perhaps a little soft? You do realise that people speak in different ways? Again, in the thread I've already mentioned, I discuss the Powell's intonation in interviews, and how, to me, they are imbued with passion; not raucous boisterous passion, but a mature, understanding and calming passion. Footballers having attitude problems? Gosh that's new. Well, it is another of those things that just happens... everywhere. Come on! Surely you accept that loads of footballers have attitude problems. Clayton, Gerrard, (supposedly Billing), Balotelli, El Hadji Diouf, Tevez, Suarez, Barton. In fact, the last comment you make is nothing short of ridiculous, BeardedBandit; at a football club with over 70 players over the age of 16, it would be difficult to find a player without an attitude problems? Imagine being at school - out of 70 pupils there would be a good chance to find a few with attitude problems.

Dave May @davehmay 4h @lolleyj10 Failed fitness test, Joe? Joe Lolley @lolleyj10 @davehmay No, feel fit! We aren't in the bloody Works League. Powell has a medical team at his disposal - he specifically said that Lolley would have played at Hull if he was fit as the natural replacement for Scannell. Since it was likely that Scannell would fade in his first start after injury, there is absolutely no reason to believe that Lolley's absence was anything other than him being considered not ready after injury.

Our strength is going forward, yet we play a defensive game..... mind boggles. We can't keep a clean sheet for shit, so we ain't gonna nick many 1-0's

You can't be a good competitive team without good defence, good attack and good ability to control games. In the first half yesterday we had all those things. In the second half we had none of them! It might be rocket science to figure out why there was such a big change.

Lets have a more cavalier attacking possession based approach with us trying to score more than the opposition and play our young guns from the start our at the very least introduce them and TRY and snatch the 3 points ....if we are gonna go down lets do it having a go and trying to entertain

It might be rocket science to figure out why there was such a big change. I would argue we had them for 20 mins in the first half, a period where we took the game to the opposition, scored one goal and may have had another. As soon as the intent to attack stopped - for whatever reason - we looked poorer and Blackburn grew into the game. We don't have the players to play a gung-ho, all out attacking style, but on the other hand we don't have the players to hold onto 1-0 scorelines. You are right, we need balance between defence, attack and control. For a period in the first half, and in our better performances last season, we saw a good balance. For much of yesterday, I would argue, we didn't have that balance. Particularly in the second half when we tried, but failed to 'control' the game. We are at our best when we give the opposition something to worry about - and we did this for 20-25 mins in the first half. We are our own worst enemies when we sit on a result - we're just no good at it.And its bloody crap to watch as well.
