I get the feeling that a lot of our players are now unhappy and couldn't give a fuck about the club, and I don't really blame them. Powell's lack of subs is one thing. Whereas most of the time a player would be thinking they'll be needed at some point, for us they know they are just there because its the rules and its incredibly unlikely they'll actually get used because Powell never actually makes a damn substitution, and when he does it makes no sense. Then there's the negative style and constant self-pity. I don't know how players think but I would assume the more attacking/creative players would also be the most impatient, energetic, and cocky. If we as fans get frustrated seeing the slow, boring play then imagine how frustrating it must be sat there on the bench (or maybe not even that) and watching it knowing that you should be out there making a difference but your manager just won't have any of it. No wonder we're seeing a lot of rumours that the younger kids have "attitude problems". I'd be getting quite pissed off too with the way things are at the moment if I was them. I'd argue that your opening statement isn't justified at all throughout the rest of your piece. I think there is no way for any of us to assume anything about the level of morale in the dressing room. What I sincerely hope however, is that our players don't come on here, to hear nasty and unjustified criticisms of their manager - it just doesn't help. A post like yours is so pointless at the end of the day, isn't it? What does it contribute to the development of the football club? Is isn't constructive. Any fan should care about participating in the direction of their club by constructively criticising, not making assumptions. If you care to read my posts in the "Powell's tactics a disgrace" thread, I offer an alternative voice to the oh-so-surprisingly not constructive "negative style". I'm baffled by the "constant self-pity" - your post is more suggestive of that than any interview I've ever heard Powell give! Is it just because his accent is different, and voice perhaps a little soft? You do realise that people speak in different ways? Again, in the thread I've already mentioned, I discuss the Powell's intonation in interviews, and how, to me, they are imbued with passion; not raucous boisterous passion, but a mature, understanding and calming passion. Footballers having attitude problems? Gosh that's new. Well, it is another of those things that just happens... everywhere. Come on! Surely you accept that loads of footballers have attitude problems. Clayton, Gerrard, (supposedly Billing), Balotelli, El Hadji Diouf, Tevez, Suarez, Barton. In fact, the last comment you make is nothing short of ridiculous, BeardedBandit; at a football club with over 70 players over the age of 16, it would be difficult to find a player without an attitude problems? Imagine being at school - out of 70 pupils there would be a good chance to find a few with attitude problems. Negative comments can be constructive if backed up with well-though out reasoning. Its a continual problem with some posters that they assume all negative comments are not constructive. If you can make your points, positive or negative, and back them up with a decent argument it is a constructive post. Whether you or I agree with it or not. I try to be as balanced as I can and attempt to see both sides of an issue. I'm not all gloom and doom, but I'm not prepared to ignore the obvious weaknesses in our play at the moment. The fact that so many are commenting on our often defensive style would suggest there is an issue. I would love to say we went at Blackburn with intent yesterday, but after 30 mins I didn't see it. A team that sits deep and fails to support its attacking players as blatantly as we did can only be seen as cautious at best, and negative at worst.

It's not rocket science. You can't be a good competitive team without good defence, good attack and good ability to control games. In the first half yesterday we had all those things. In the second half we had none of them! It might be rocket science to figure out why there was such a big change. I would argue we had them for 20 mins in the first half, a period where we took the game to the opposition, scored one goal and may have had another. As soon as the intent to attack stopped - for whatever reason - we looked poorer and Blackburn grew into the game. We don't have the players to play a gung-ho, all out attacking style, but on the other hand we don't have the players to hold onto 1-0 scorelines. You are right, we need balance between defence, attack and control. For a period in the first half, and in our better performances last season, we saw a good balance. For much of yesterday, I would argue, we didn't have that balance. Particularly in the second half when we tried, but failed to 'control' the game. We are at our best when we give the opposition something to worry about - and we did this for 20-25 mins in the first half. We are our own worst enemies when we sit on a result - we're just no good at it.And its bloody crap to watch as well. I sort of agree....but it depends on the willingness / fitness of our midfield 3 to get up the pitch. I don't know if the management dictated it or we were too knackered to do anything else.

Why are we wasting away one of our most exciting players we've had in years? He needs to start getting game time or he will be gone and we will have missed out big time. He was fully fit today and not even on the bench so what is happening with him? I'll tell you why... He is far too creative/ dynamic/ unpredictable for our over cautious manager. End of. A real shame!

The reality is, Joe has been far too predictable i'm afraid....So far. Please justify that remark... Robins touched on it not long after he arrived, will not, can not get past his man on the outside and always cuts in, too one footed and very predictable i'm afraid....Up to now. Imo.

Just because defenders know what he is going to try to do, does not mean they will be able to stop him.

Hasn't stopped Arjen Robben or Sterling for that matter who's as one footed as you'll ever see. Still hope for Joe yet!!

It's not Lolley being so one footed that's the problem it's doing the same thing over and over. Even at Barnsley the other week they sussed him after 2 minutes of him being on the pitch, everytime he got the ball he went inside but they pushed him back to the point that the only 2 or 3 occasions he didn't lose the ball was because he ran backwards and laid it off back in to the centre circle.
He should have learnt he needs to go on the outside as well even if it doesn't work and doesn't feel comfortable for him just to give defenders something to think about.

It's embarrassing he isn't and will never be anywhere near their level.

I wasn't comparing him to anyone just pointing out that it's all well and good knowing how to stop someone but doing it is a different matter all together.Robben in particular has been doing the same thing for 15 years and at Europe's top clubs.

So when Town decided we needed to teach him how to run why did we only teach him how to run in 1 direction? Bloody Ross Wilson.

Just makes me laugh when folk talk about one-footedness as a weakness. Like something my Uncle Wally would say.
Some people will drag up all sorts of fucking nonsense to defend the indefensible.

I only used the one footed remark because of his seeming inability to get on the outside of his opponent. Somebody mentioned Gareth Bale as an example of one footedness saying he always cuts inside, this is quite frankly bullshit. Bale can and does beat his man on both sides and gets to the byline, something Lolley has yet to do. Cutting inside time after time is predictable and not good imo.

Bale does both I agree - and I've seen Lolley go outside and cross with his right too - rare admittedly. I want Lolley on every game - he's exciting - he gets fans off there seats - I don't want crabs like Whitehead holding hands with the centre backs - its soul destroying.
If Lolley's fit then he should play. Long live the entertainers! Death to the bores!

He was nicknamed the non-league Messi, but it sounds like he should have been nicknamed the non-league Robben.

These are elite players though and whilst they mainly use one foot they don't do the same thing over and over again, even Robben mixes it up, he has the most success with cutting in at pace and that's why we remember it but it's not all he does.

As frustrating as the last 30 minutes was on Saturday, it is still a point on the board. I've said from day one that you wouldn't get a buccaneering style from Powell, I don't know why fans just can't accept that and support the bloke. Not saying he doesn't make mistakes, and judging by his post match interview on RL, he knows he's under pressure. It seems that some of our fans now need an annual "who will the next manager be" debate, to satisfy their needs.

Or maybe as Scannell is struggling he was Holding him back for tomorrow?! Logic isnt allowed mate Where is the logic in not having him on the bench? If Scannell had gone off injured after 20 minutes then it wouldn't have looked very logical And is Powell that psychic that he knew Scannell would be unavailable for tomorrow? With those sort of powers you'd think he be doing a far better job than he is
