Gary Neville talking about lack of penetration and chances by man united:
He says United are playing 'safe' and that you have to 'risk' to win matches. You commit people, you run behind them, you have to take people on. Win the game first, dominate possession later.
It's ok having all this possession but you need to take risks to win games.
Monk when asked about swansea's success and how they have achieved it: 'we work a lot on the mentality of the players'.

Chris Powell and Gary Neville both full backs. Funny how differently they see a simple game

Are we not going to Factor in the relative merits of the players here ?

Same issues with players at different levels isn't it Ted Chips ?
More an issue of style of play or management surely ?

I'm not a Man U fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I turned on Radio Five Live and I could have been listening to Radio Swansea. I then put on Sky and I could have been listening to Swansea TV!

At the top end of a table, quality, depth of squad etc will define which clubs come through but for the also rans and those near the bottom of the table, it is impossible to understate how important belief, resilience and ambition to win a game are. We are sadly lacking in all of them at the moment.
Look at Birmingham last season, very average squad, struggling horrendously. Rowett came in, all of a sudden every player had some belief, knew what their jobs were and they produced some really good results.

I've been saying Man Utd are shite for a few seasons now. Rooney seems to want half a dozen touches before he gets a shot off, a player in sharp decline. Awful, awful team to watch.
Man City will win the league this season.

Man City will win the league this season. Rooney is certainly on a big decline, he first touch is awful and he has to get the ball onto his right foot to shoot and pass. Turgid football under LVG. All that money spent and no cutting edge..

Man City will win the league this season. I would be worried if I was a Man Utd fan that the only tactic Van Gaal could come up with to get something from the game was to put Fellaini up front and bang high balls up to him. All those resources and that's the best they can come up with?

Mata's another one who is too slow and needs too many touches.
Severe lack of pace in that side. Danny Welbeck had it.
I think Schweinsteiger is about as fit as me.

All those resources and that's the best they can come up with? Now you've gone and done it. VanGaal's going to come on here with graphs, charts, numbers and historical data to prove what you think you saw is not what really transpired. The man has more stats than Doc Halliday has. :)And the Doc has an excuse as he watches baseball. And believe me, that game is the ultimate definition of stats.

Fair play to Gary Neville - he knows what he is talking about - I beleive he has yet to lose a game as a Manager.
