Working on fact, players currently with a HTAFC contract, what would you be looking at as a potential starting line up for Cardiff on 12th?
Murphy... smith - Hudson - Lynch - Davidson
Hogg - Whitehead - Huws/Dempsey?
Scannell - Wells - Carayol/Miller?
Based on that the 11 doesn't look bad, its what lies beneath that's scary. Only really Lolley off the bench to change a game should we need it.

That'll do. Is Hudson fit? I was impressed with Cranie when he came on v QPR. Did more than a job. We looked quite cultured until the f*ck up leading to their goal. Hope Davidson doesn't get crocked on international duty.
PS Has Bunn gone as well?

Good point re Bunn, not a bad bench player but not in my view a championship level starter. All in all my point being its not as bad as some make it out to be. I would still be expecting that team to be beating your likes of Rotherham, Bolton and other strugglers.

Murphy
Smith/Whitehead, Hudson, Lynch, Davidson
Hogg, Whitehead/Huws
Scannell, Lolley, Carayol
Miller
Get the ball out wide quickly, get Scannell and Carayol, supported by our fullbacks, running at the defence (pulling a fullback and CB across) and whip crosses in for Miller to get on the end of. Don't hoof onto Miller's head if his back is to goal - play into his chest or feet to hold up and lay off to the wingers or Lolley, then get in the box. CMs tasked with winning the ball and playing it simple to the attacking players. Lolley with a free role, but to be on the edge of the area for the second ball after a cross.
We then have Dempsey, Bunn and Wells on the bench to come on if we need to change things. I also wouldn't mind Cranie starting as I was impressed on Saturday.

I am free to play.
Crate of decent ale and a free curry is all I ask.
Mind you, if another Club want to give me 2 x crates of decent ale and a year's worth of free curries.
Fuck it, I'm off.

Far from good enough I'm afraid. Mid table league 1 side at best and packing it out with loan players won't make it much better. Vital ten minutes for town

Biggest disappointment has got to be that Whitehead and Smith/Hudson will be a permanent fixture for the foreseeable.

I'm sort of agree with that. However, we are seeing that the business plan overrides the football plan now so its only logical to play Nahki and hope he bags as many goals as possible this season to inflate his value! On football merits I'd play a fit Vaughan every time. We've got to stop thinking like that now though!

the back 6 picks itself wells up front on his own scanz and carayol to run at Malone at peltier only position up for grabs is the number 10 - huws if hes fit and if not the Dempsey agree with others that cranie was good on sat and could easily replace Hudson although I am not a Hudson hater like some

Keeper: Murphy
Right back: Smith/Cranie/Whitehead Left back: Davidson/Lynch Centre back: Lynch/Hudson/Cranie
Central midfield: Whitehead/Hogg/Huws Attacking midfield/wingers: Scanz/Carayol/Patterson/Lolley/Bunn
Strikers:Wells/Miller/Vaughan
I know I'm in a minority but I genuinely think that's a decent squad with decent options. Would I prefer Coady, Butterfield, Rhodes etc in there? Of course! But it is what it is, and it certainly doesn't look as bad as some make out.
A Holt/Kermagant type loan and possibly a centre back or full back loan next week and we will be fine.

I'd set us up like....
Murphy
Whitehead Hudson. Lynch.
Davidson Hogg, Huws, paterson, scannell
Carayol, Vaughan
Unfortunately we appear to have pissed vaughny off for some reason so we'll be stuck with wells.

Murphy Smith/Whitehead, Hudson, Lynch, Davidson Hogg, Whitehead/Huws Scannell, Lolley, Carayol Miller Get the ball out wide quickly, get Scannell and Carayol, supported by our fullbacks, running at the defence (pulling a fullback and CB across) and whip crosses in for Miller to get on the end of. Don't hoof onto Miller's head if his back is to goal - play into his chest or feet to hold up and lay off to the wingers or Lolley, then get in the box. We then have Dempsey, Bunn and Wells on the bench to come on if we need to change things. I also wouldn't mind Cranie starting as I was impressed on Saturday. Agree with alot of that but there's no way Smith will support Scannell - the lack of a decent partnership down our right hand side is a real issue for me. The lack of a true fullback on that side, and Smith's reluctance to get forward (along with his limitations on the ball) mean Scanz is almost always left isolated and has to do everything himself. Davidson offers better support on the other side but its plainly obvious that Powell doesn't like his fullbacks to go forward. I would also like to think we'd stop hoofing up to Miller because he's poor in the air, but I can't see that happening either. The long ball has been part of our play ever since Powell took over and I don't think it'll stop now. I am hopeful he new lads will offer something different though - hopefully more creativity and more goal threat.

Carayol WellsI think this is how he wants to set up away from home 4-2-3-1, its the 'flavour of the month' at the top level. Maybe Huws swap with Paterson, but away this formation. Personally id get rid of Whitehead like Peltier last season he's brought nothing except perhaps organisation/experience but it isnt enough. Bunn Dempsey and Lolley look like bit players now, waiting for their chance from injury and suspension In short, we've got some exciting midfield players , lack quality at the back and need another genuine striker proven at this level Best formation and line up that id like to see if JV goes on loan and isnt in the equation, Carayol looks a biggish unit why not up front or split striker to replace the cumbersome Miller who cant trap a bag of cement ------------------------------------Murphy -----------------Smith------------Cranie/Hudson--------------Lynch -------Scanz---------------Hogg------------------Huws---------------------Davidson ---------------------------------------Paterson ------------------------------Wells----------------------Carayol Subs Ed Lolley Miller Hudson/Cranie Whitehead Bunn Dempsey

Whitehead will be in midfield AND he has played well there this season. If folk put aside their pre-conceptions they'd find he's done his job fine so far, and we've looked miles better defensively for it.

Him and Hogg are playing well in the middle and your spot on we look very solid. Problem is neither of them look like they want to be 5 yards over the half way line. Which doesn't do much for support any attacks we have.
