No wonder player`s want to leave ! What do they expect?! We've had a solid 10-15k for many, many years now. Our gates aren't going much higher, and they aren't going much lower. If the club even try to use this as an excuse then they're getting desperate. Maybe if they showed a little more passion and a positive attitude, more fans would turn up. This is an entertainment industry and it's the teams job to entertain the fans. The fans have absolutely no obligation to turn up to an increasingly boring event.

Its a crap argument, Its a entertainments business, People/Fans will not turn up and pay hard earned cash to watch second rate footy, When a club is selling the best players and not building a squad & the entertainment is crap what do the club expect, Smaller clubs than us have strengthened with quality some clubs like Bournemouth have even made it to the prem. Give the fans something worth watching and they will come. I agree it's no wonder players want to leave and it's no wonder fans are not turning up.

I don't think we've had 10k home fans turn up this season. 7-8,000 actually attending games would be my guess. I agree with everything else you've said though.
I cannot believe we are selling pay on the day tickets at £30, it would be a hard enough sale if we were top of the league but who on Earth think it's acceptable to pay those prices?
There is no way your going to get people coming back, especially being stuck to the lower regions of a League table.

It's amazing that people all of a sudden want to slam the quality of football. When has it been better? One or two seasons, maybe. It can be dull at times, but when has this ever not been the case?

I don't balk at lumping out for a SC, but the thought of handing over three tenners to watch Town at home is very off putting.

We are where we are because we do not deserve to be any higher, It doesn't matter how well you play for a proportion of a match, It's the end result that counts and goes down in history, Yes some good individual performances on Sat but overall we were second best/ second rate, Wells was very poor, Poor first touch he was second rate Sat, It can be said that our best player that day has just been sold today. It is you my friend who really should go watch lower league football to see just how poor we have become.

Die hard fans will most of the time turn up season after season. The only thing that can deter them is the price of the ticket. On the fence supporters want entertainment with blood and guts effort with goals thrown in also. So if we have got as many die hard fans as we can possibly get the onus is on the club to attract on the fence supporters. Can they do that? Selling the clubs better players looks to be a loser on the face of it. Unless, those replacements can show bags of effort and get results which have sadly been lacking the crowd will not go up.

I watch a lot of football thank you very much. But I can differentiate between the disappointment of a loss and the quality of the players. We have good players, we need to get our team performances improved upon. But we are not a second rate team. But I understand your need to highlight all the negativity that you can. It's hard to prise a sheep from the flock.

On Saturday we played some decent stuff however would not have scored had we still been playing until now. Unfortunately our most creative midfielder is gone so Chris now has a real job on his hands. From somewhere we need to find an attacking midfielder or two as Hogg and Whitehead both prefer to sit deep. We need to get forwards , midfielders and wide players actually getting into the box allowing us chances to actually score. Whilst some of this does mean players coming in our existing players need to up their game and bust a gut to attack when the chance occurs. We are where we are regarding support as those who came in the past and potential new supporters will in the first instance only back a successful team.

Fans who are staying away for whatever reason!! are only hurting the club. We played ok on Saturday and in parts we played well but our attacking force is woeful. If we had won, people would have noticed and said what a good three points but its a fine line in football between winning and losing and you have to take your chances. When we were at the top under Steve Bruce our crowds were poor and i don't know what it is with the sporting public of Huddersfield.

When we were in league 2 last time, we averaged over 10,500. We are now averaging only a few hundred more (and that's with larger away followings) albeit after just 3 games. It seems the hardcore stay with us, but we struggle to attract the floating fans, who most clubs can attract when they're 2 divisions higher. Its like we're a very well supported lower division club, but when we get ourselves into a good division, nobody's interested.

I usually attend 5-10 games a season. Classic fan who has followed town for 15 years, had season tickets in the past. This season I have thought twice due to the ridiculous price, for me and a mate to go on the day (even booking online) best part of £60. Taking into consideration the poor service and quality of pie etc is well documented and is another factor. I can't see me spending much of my hard earned cash at the club I love if this continues to rise year on year. My thoughts are - we have recouped many millions of pounds from player sales - why are the fans financing these millionaire loan signings?

We are well supported for a Town our size. Places like Northampton and Swindon are bigger in population and they get much less than us. Bradford have lower support, without the free tickets and cheap tickets, but it annoys me that we seem to be the only team whos home support doesn't improve, much the higher up the league we are. I know some wont accept this, but the way some fans talk about the team, is having a big effect and is putting people off. The supporters need to be selling the club, but some just want to spend their time slagging the club off at all costs. DATM is typical of this.

The current poor gates are probably the result of a number of factors. There is a fair bit of negativity around the club at the moment - people see the best players being sold, we are in the relegation zone and Chris Powell's negative approach to games are all turn-offs. However, in one of the poorest regions of the country, £30 to watch a game of footie has to be the biggest deterrent. It is definitely no longer the working man's mass spectator sport.

Oh please, Give it up, The people I know who have stopped going, Used to go, Or go to the big games finals, Do not give a flying fuey what is written on here, Infact I would say that half of em will have never heard of DATM, Most folks lives do not hang by what is said on twitter or any other social media crap.
As slackjaw has stated, Folk in the boozer who aint got a season ticket see Town flogging all and sundry, Indeed a comment at the weekend was " typical Town ", " no ambition ", " always been the same ", etc etc.
Am a season ticket holder, I want to see the ground full week in week out as we all do on here, But this is simply not going to happen when you charge a ridiculous price for entry, Flog your best players after finishing in your highest league placing for years and are constantly seen to be chirping how you cannot compete, Be happy to be here, Small club etc etc
The way DATMs importance in the real world is perceived by some on here is mind boggling

Even if we filled our stadium every week would that mean we could compete at the top of the league... NO!!!!
I'm becoming so disalussioned with this football club, i just dont understand what direction were going or what it is we're trying to achieve.??
We are just in a continuous circle of looking like building a good team for it only to be dismantled year upon year.
Its heartbreaking when you look at the list of players we have had permanent or on loan in the last 5 years or so... Rhodes, butterfield, clayton, afobe, coady, pilkington, hunt, drinkwater, smithies to name a few.
Imagine if we could have kept some of that together? Players want to leave as soon as a bid comes in what does that tell you? Theres a negativity and a defeated feeling sorry for ourselves attitude stemming right from the very heart of the club.
If we want to over achieve how can we ever do it when we are already beating ourselves?

I said that the way people talk about th club is putting people off. DATM is typical of what people are saying, whether its in the pub or on the street. I didn't in anway say DATM is stopping people going. Although social media generally does have alot to answer for. Unfair comments, like, "the dullest football I've seen in years", if getting said in here will be said in the pub, on the street etc.
I try and be honest with mates I know who don't go, but try and encourage them to go as best I can.

"You buy a ticket if you want, we'll sell the players"
Huddersfield Town - The Selling Club*
* all sales will be either 1. Not replaced 2. Replaced by loaned from league below / reserve team / who hasn't played since January
3. In the event that we say substantially all of the transfer funds will be available, 1 & 2 still apply

I agree that the majority of town fans have nowt to do with DATM,or the HTAFC website..they get their info from the examiner or radio leeds..When they have come down they witness a pretty poor atmosphere in the stadium, it's quiet and it's often funereal.. The standard of football has often been poor, the effort from the players seems to be lacking, we don't score many goals while we concede daft goals with regularity. We don't win many games and our league position you can always find by scanning the bottom of the league table..add into that mix a £3 hike in match day prices (on top of already expensive prices) and you have the reasons why many fans don't bother any more, or just pick the odd game.
It's nowt to do with us selling x player, or the quality of the pies or the match day program...it's simply the 'experience' is not of sufficient quality for the price that is charged.

The thing is though and again Im not saying this is down to DATM, before I get misinterpreted, but people nowadays form an opinion based on what people say on the internet. When I'm choosing a restaurant to go to, I look at peoples reviews. When you buy something off amazon or whatever you can see what people say about it. Why would it be any different for football?

It's probably my age but the last thing i do is look at what other people think about a restaurant or hotel or product, i'd rather find out for myself. On my theory that 90% of people that pass comment generally do just to complain, often for the sake of it.
