Best not the worst striker to have on trial. Kelly played 40+ games at right-back for Reading last year.

Think Leon Best needs to get his career back on track, he tore this league up with Newcastle which persuaded Blackburn to pay £3m for him the season after but he picked up a big injury pretty much straight after he moved.. Not sure what level he's at now though?

has more 'breaks' than a primary school teacher.. Careful ... 2 of my offspring are primary teachers.. I can at least say that neither ever complains about their 'pay or workload' after 20 odd years apiece complaining about getting out of bed, pocket money, Uni allowance, getting part time work etc etc etc...

I think you'll find that Secondary teachers get the same breaks as Primary, but university/college lecturers take the biscuit with far longer hols.

Leon Best is a Nottingham lad and is in the same cohort (age/year group) as David McGoldrick. They were together on Notts County's books as lads and were then snatched by Southampton's Academy for peanuts (Notts were desperate for cash at the time). As has been said earlier, Best sustained injuries at Blackburn and has drifted around a bit. McGoldrick, on the other hand, has done quite well for himself, most recently at Ipswich.

Kelly could be a sensible signing plenty of experience at this level and with Ireland not sure on best though another who doesn't score goals.

Not sure what level he's at now though? Think your memory's playing tricks with you here mate, he didn't score any in the Championship for Newcastle after moving there and went to Blackburn a couple of years later after Newcastle went up. His scoring record is pretty poor in general and I doubt he'd be much of an upgrade on Miller but I suppose we're having to scrabble around desperately for any free agents up top given the position we've left ourselves in. If Ameobi was a realistic possibility in terms of wages he'd have been a better short-term option IMO.

It must have been when Newcastle got back in the prem when he scored afew for them which led to his big money move to Blackburn? 11 in 30 odd appearances.

I see that Ameobi played in last night's Wolves U21s game against Swansea. Lost 2-1 and was subbed for a 16 year old. My guess is that he won't be at Wolves for long.
Dodged one there.

Best not the worst striker to have on trial. Kelly played 40+ games at right-back for Reading last year. He's played 33 games in the last two seasons, Gunter is there first choice right back. As for Leon Best, 7 goals in 3 seasons, without scoring a single goal for Derby in 15 appearances last season. No thank you.

Bunn tore Gunter apart at their place last season, so if Kelly can't get a game because of Gunther ..... Used to like Best - he was very sharp for a while - more explosive version of Miller and better finisher - but the stats are not in his favour now.
