I'd take Best for sure. Presuming he is desperate for a contract it's probably a gamble worth taking. Are we really going to get any better without having to use up another loan slot

So, what's the oracle that is Alan Nixon had to say on the matter? (I'm guessing he followed up his tweet one way or another). Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko 2h2 hours ago SHEFF WED. May take a look at Ameobi while they wait on others becoming fit or available. Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko 2h2 hours ago HUDDERSFIELD. Best and Kelly in for a look. Manager seems keen. Thanks for the info. I had no idea. Maybe I'll start a thread...

I think you'll find that Secondary teachers get the same breaks as Primary, but university/college lecturers take the biscuit with far longer hols. Wrt holidays, lecturers are treated the same as any other University employee at the same grade. Most lecturers will get about 25 leave days per year, more senior lecturers might go up top 29 days. When they are not giving lectures they are generally expected to contribute to research and do admin relating to their courses.

Powell is determined to get the squad average age up ain't he! But really, no thanks, don't see how either would improve what we have.

A lot of fans slating these two already and we haven't even signed them. Piss myself if we signed them and they turned out to be good signings after 90% of town fans didn't want us to sign them. Just like Miller did before he signed.

Just like Miller did before he signed. Not 90% of Town fans; 90% of DATM posters, which is still an incredibly small minority of Town fans in general. Fans on here often overstate their importance.

leon best injury record is worse than vaughans!! Stephen Kelly provides cover at left back so I expect a season long contract could be a good signing

Stephen kelly is a right back. Can he play left back otherwise he would be no more cover for Davidson than anyone else we currently have

IF WE ARE REALLY TO CONSOLIDATE WE NEED MORE EXPERIENCED PLAYERS. Thats not saying the young ones will not be involved but in a 46 game season we will need all the help we can get

Wouldn't we be better off giving Flo Bojal a chance or calling Hiwula back in January rather than taking on an unfit injury prone striker ?

On Saturdays display have to be much better than big ish and I don't think he is ... It may have been mentioned before but did anyone else notice in programme notes at weekend Dean said Piwell could "fetch in loan players of his choice " . I realise the player needs to want to come but on that basis is Best the best we can get ?

If he can do a job/be good at both left and right back then does make lot more sense

Also wards loan length/long term future here cud make the diff as well as he would struggle to oust ward, cranie, Hudson at centre bk and at the min cranie at right back. Maybe this challenge of gaining first team place and abit of time out the (negative) limelight isn't necessarily a bad thing for his long term future. Only 22/23 I think

No surprise we are going in for free transfers when we already have 5 in Huws, Carayol, Steer, Paterson and Ward on loan. Only 5 loans allowed in the match day squad of course and 4 long-term and 8 short-term in a season.
It does beg the question over recruitment this summer though. Quite obvious we needed more defenders in and it never happened...

Without wanting to take things off onto an off-topic tangent, EMT is essentially right. I get around ~25 days leave and have both research and lecturing responsibilities, and as they say in academia - "publish or perish". So, I'm not sure which lecturers you're pals with MT, but I live only down the road in Mapperley so p'raps you could put a word in?

No messing about there then If they don't meet the expected requirements it soon shows up on the annual PDPR exercise and they are soon shown the door. Lots of University staff being made redundant or being asked if they are interested in voluntary severance, it's not a particularly pleasant sector to be working in at present I can assure you.

especially when Davidson is away on international duty every month or 2 and our only other alleged left back cover is tommy smith with all of 2 games experience at left back Assuming hes called up, Davidson will "only" miss the upcoming Leeds game, and possibly the return Leeds fixture, depending how far in advance the squad meet up for camp. Every other game, including his upcoming Jordan v Aus fixture on 8th Oct that hes in squad for, announced today, he shouldn't miss any games because they're smack in middle of "international breaks".

Remember that he was rested for the Cardiff game after his return from International duty because of weariness and jet lag so might not be quite as simple as that

Coupled with the fact that he has had a bit of a mixed start and I'm not keen of the fact that he has nobody realistically challenging him for the shirt at the present time.
