Powell is determined to get the squad average age up ain't he! But really, no thanks, don't see how either would improve what we have. Do you watch them in training?

Wouldn't we be better off giving Flo Bojal a chance or calling Hiwula back in January rather than taking on an unfit injury prone striker ? I'd like to see Flo get a chance, just to see if he offers more goal threat than Miller, if he doesnt we've lost nowt Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards Apart from possibly the games we play Bojal instead of Miller.

Assuming hes called up, Davidson will "only" miss the upcoming Leeds game, and possibly the return Leeds fixture, depending how far in advance the squad meet up for camp. Every other game, including his upcoming Jordan v Aus fixture on 8th Oct that hes in squad for, announced today, he shouldn't miss any games because they're smack in middle of "international breaks". Remember that he was rested for the Cardiff game after his return from International duty because of weariness and jet lag so might not be quite as simple as that He needs game time, far from convinced as yet and it cant help with him buggering off back to Australia every 5 mins. He seems to have been unavailable an awful lot to say he hasn't been here 5 mins. Also it cant help if his wife and new born are still in Aus.

Watched Best play for our development side yesterday and I think I am right in saying he had no shots on target and offered little up front. Ipswich`S young defence marked him out of the game so he really did nothing much to impress the manager and coaching staff who were watching. They may have seen something in him regarding training however if he did join he would really have to up his game to make an impact for us.

That block in the 93rd minute v Trees ensured a point.

I think Best would be good cover for Miller if Powell wants to continue playing the current system - and it seems that he does according to his recent comments. Vaughan would be better but Best is not a bad short term option.

That's not saying much though is it, plus missing training, jet lag etc, it's not only the games. Not great when he's trying to settle in at a new club as a regular starter, hopefully he can settle in and improve his form. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Article on the town site regarding Towns Under 21s win against Crewe shows that Best was not in the squad. Has he left the club or signed a deal and is now training with the 1st team squad?

Latest news from Nixon on Best
Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko 36 mins36 minutes ago Don't think Ameobi signing for Bolton. Or Best getting the deal he wants at Huddersfield.
Maybe we offered Best a pay as you score deal and with that he realized he'd be better off on Job Seekers Allowance.

Surely the deal revolves around whats best for us not them? Both over the hill and would probably offer less than promoting a young un from the development squad.

Sorry my post was meant to be with a heavy hint of sarcasm based on the fact that Best has only scored 6 goals in the last 3 years. There's no way that I'd want him at Town, we already have one none goalscoring striker.

He's shite anyway another striker who can't score it wouldn't be a big loss if we were to miss out.

It seems that there are one or two long-in-the-tooth strikers (and agents) who value their worth more than anybody else does!
Well done Town, if they are not going to improve the side show them the door.

Would rather give youth a chance

The slightly concerning thing is we WANTED these players but we've gone for players who are priced out of what we consider acceptable within our framework.
I thought within football, what wages and terms people "would accept" is generally well known....wasting our time on a couple of players for seemingly the last month who were never going to sign at the level we were prepared to offer seems a bit shoddy to be honest.
I like it better when we sign players I've never heard of, usually works out a much smoother transaction.

You'd think players still without a club in OCTOBER would be desperate to be given a chance anywhere especially in a high profile league like the championship.
Sounds to me like the players and especially agents need to take a serious reality check, maybe the gravy train is starting to slow. Ameobi is embarrassing himself with the number of clubs he's pitched up at when he could be leading the line for Town whilst earning a very respectable salary and possibly earning an even better deal (on merit not past glories). You'd think the penny would have dropped by now that his agent isn't doing him any favours.

They'll have wanted the club to be committing to contracts worth somewhere in the region between £750,000 and a Million quid.
No thanks.
