We have another striker that everyone seems to keep forgetting about just he wasn't allowed to play tonight. Wasn't he ? Really ? Is that what happened ? I'm on about Paterson.

Team look comfortable on the ball, however the lack of efforts on goal is frustrating and embarrassing. First 20 minutes Forest hardly touched the ball yet they go 1 up and we've not even mustered a single attempt at goal. Miller is not the man to hold the line, if we deploy a target man then it needs to someone with pace, strength and a good first touch. Miller looks lethargic, his first touch is worse than my wife's, and he spends most of the game on his arse. IMO Town don't get enough men forward quick enough when the ball goes up Miller, so for me he needs dropping.

My God miller was dogshit tonight. In what way? He held the ball up which enabled to let Harry Bunne and other town players run at the Forest defence. If you thought Milksr wasn't very good then I'm guessing that you've never played football before. OK. Just to clarify. Miller imo looked to be blowing out his arse after about 20 minutes, yes he kind of leads the line but has all the ball skills of my great uncle legless. For such a big bloke you would assume he would put himself about a bit but he got bullied by their back line and looked half arsed when the ball inevitably ran away from him. Oh for a grant Holt in his place.....

IMO we don't need a big target man up top, we play the ball around nicely and the whole team looks comfortable in possession. Some good build up play, Carayol and Scanz will give all teams in this league some serious problems. Once we get to the final third we seem to run out of ideas, choose the wrong ball or no one seems to get a shot off ( which is shagging annoying). Definitely need a striker, Miller isn't the answer, I'd play Lolley up top, keep the ball on the deck, that's when Town look their best.

Why's he a pedant for using the English language correctly? He's not using the language correctly, he's picking someone else up for not using it incorrectly, hence my comment, I think it's apt The irony is I actually have an A level in English language. I defy anybody who can spell properly after sinking as much beer as I did last night!

If picking someone up on their use of grammar or the English language helps to make them feel a little better about themselves then so be it, each to their own I suppose.

Great quote from the forest forum:
"When the kitman takes the kits out of the washing machine tomorrow, he's going to find Ishmael Miller still in Kelvin's pocket"
Spot on, problem is the defender didn't have to work hard to keep him in his pocket.
Most frustrating thing with Miller is when he loses out in a challenge (which is most of the time) he stops and moans rather than getting after it.

I like Miller but he didn't have a good game tonight. If anything it was as if he tried too hard and lacked a bit of composure. When he's fully fit and confident he'll be a real handful for opposition defenders. I'm afraid he IS fully fit Pete. What you see is as good as it gets - he ain't gonna turn into Usain Bolt or Thierry Henry with a few extra training sessions.

He also doesn't play on the defender, but drifts around. It was too easy for their defence last night. On the plus side, we have shown we can mix it up with one of the better sides in this division on their day. I'll bang on again about Grant Holt, but if he were playing millers role last night we'd have won that game.

Interesting though that the guy marking Miller all night (Wilson was it?) was Sky's man of the match. Say's a lot.

Thought he was shite last night but excellent against Charlton and Bolton, all swings and roundabouts ain't it.
Or people can revert back to
A. Is he a donkey B. Is he not fit C. Is he a good player that bullies defenders

I think we are getting from Miller what he has to give. cant see that rubbishing him makes any sense unless someone can supply town with a better option at our price ... o grady challenged for a lot of long stuff last night that came to nothing as well.. lot of midfielders playing in midfield on show last night..

Agree, playing that system of one advanced player and one just in behind the only options for the 'advanced' are Miller & Vaughan and it looks like the love-in with Vaughan has ended. I just don't see Wells in that role so at the moment it has to be Miller or change the system that's actually worked for us in the last few games. If Miller did what he does for us but also regularly banged in 20 goals a season he probably wouldn't be playing for us in the first place.

Town arguably do not have a better ball holding player than Miller, and being built like a brick shithouse certainly helps maintain his vital role in the team. I feel this player has far more to offer than what we have seen of late, and that might be made possible if his fitness levels could be raised to a higher standard. What I am looking at are the " very impressive " 7 points from 9 under the present system, and feel the best has yet to come from other members of the squad

We need better, simple as that. Huws isn't going to keep the kind of scoring form he's in at the minute for much longer. Miller has had a good half at Charlton and a good half against Bolton, apart from that he's been utter shite. He doesn't even look like scoring a goal or even troubling the goalkeeper.
Love to know what this great 'job' is that he does for the side is, apart from looking knackered after an hour and throwing himself on the floor. Miller is another Alan Lee to me, the best people seem to think a big striker should offer is that they make a nuisance of themselves. We've got some decent midfielders but they're certainly not good enough that they can continually provide the goals to cover up the fact Millers goal return will be minimal.

What I'd give to have Grant Holt again like last season, no coincidence that our best results came when he came to the club.

Would it be classed as a goal scoring opportunity? ;D Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards
