Pipes, if I filmed my bass speaker wobble during This Charming Man and showed you the vid, you'd swear it was Sly and the Family Stone or Parliament. Under all the jangle and droan, is some funk. Yes, it's the jangle and drone that kills it. Give me the real thing every day. But still an amazing rhythm section. They had an almost Sly and Robbie quality where it was so effortless that they hardly seemed to be doing anything, yet at the same time they made it move like a train. And that's a sentence I didn't think I'd ever be writing on the mainboard! I like this no admin thing. It's like when you had a lesson at school, and owing to a timetable fuck up no teacher came to teach it. Anarchy!

I almost quoted Mozzer. I like his lyrics and they are often apposite "In my life, why do I give valuable time to people who don't care if I live or die?" I didn't cos I don't want to cause offence and I wondered if it perhaps applies to many of us on here.... It's not the lyrics I have a problem with, it's the mind-numbingly depressing, droney, out of tune way they are delivered.

A bit of gold dust for you pipes. You can leave your fools gold (and the rest of their back catalogue) at the door Too tinny and jangly mate. What I need is a How Soon Is Now? instrumental. Pipes you seem to be having some kind of midlife meltdown which affects the part of your brain associated with musical taste and football nouse .. step away from the keyboard. , put hatful of hollow on 24 hour rotate and come back refreshed mate

Ted, this week I have been listening to Luiz Bonfa & Antonio Carlos Jobim to Studio One reggae to the new Orb album. There's nowt wrong with my ears.
And I was right behind that free kick v Boro, I tell you what, a good keeper going with his proper hand would have saved that.

I did know that once and then put it to the back of my mind.
Soul Jazz records did The Studio One Story that came with a superb mini documentary on DVD and it was on there.
Isn't his real name Clement?

Funnily enough, I was just going to put up 'How Soon is Now?' and say that if you don't appreciate that then you're a lost cause. There's hope for you yet Pipes! Oh go on, I'll post anyway. Still features your favourite crooner, though. Breath it in Pipes, breath it in!

The Smiths?? the riffs and some of the tunes were great, spoiled by a miserable bastard with miserable lyrics singing over them?
