Give the captain and manager (via 4th official) the option of calling for a MAX of 2 video challenges per half. But only at a stoppage or when you are in possession. As I said .. 2 becomes 3.becomes 4.becomes 10 .. a time will come when there won't be an on pitch ref but I think we should resist it and keep our game as close to how it is now as possible How does 2 become 4 become 10 when my rule limits it to 2?

We're getting off the subject of young Mr. Chilwell of course, but never mind...
I could see something similar to the challenges rule in tennis working :each team has two "challenges" per game where they can go to the video ref, if the video vindicates the challenge they don't lose it but if it shows the original decision was correct they lose the challenge. The hard part would be having the technology in place at places like Forest Green, Histon, AFC Emley and so on...

I think that part of the issue is that we have refs and assistants, we should just have refs, all equally entitled to give a decision.
IMO too many refs TELL assistants that they are needed for offsides and throwins only. More officials works really well in US sports, with the game being quicker I would have a ref per half too, so they have more chance of keeping up with play, they must stay in the same half all game though to be fair. If a video ref can be afforded then let him sit in front of the monitors and be contacted to confirm highly contentious issues or team 'challenges'.
Take the spotlight (and maybe ego in some cases) away from them, simply make them one of many and I think they will benefit and simply try to get things right then surely the game will improve.
Like the US they can become a crew and rotate their roles, from touchline, to half of pitch, video booth for each match in turn.
Having one ref with more assistants in UEFA matches hasn't helped in the slightest.

we could have a 'snick o meter' to check to see if any contact at all is made when the big fairies go down like they have been shot?
along with a 'slap o meter' to see if the slap/girly push was hard enough to see a grown man go down like he has been caught on the chin by Tyson Fury?
all players caught shirt pulling are booked and then have their arms secured by their sides for the rest of the game..
anyone who whines at the ref is made to stand in a corner for a period of time to 'think about what they did'...Rooney might as well go and stand there after they have shaken hands before kick off.
fouls/dives/chelping will always be open to interpretation, 3 people looking at the same incident will have differing views on many occasions..even with endless replays..
ref in each half like hockey might be a better bet..linos to spend most of their time and attention on the offsides, throw ins etc..

Why? It's detriment to the game itself. Virtually every other sport has embraced technology and it's been a success. Detriment in YOUR EYES In 100 years time there will be no refs it will be drones computers and robots.... Cherish human error whilst it lasts I m o .... Certainly where things aren't black and white and where implementation will lead to a totally different spectacle Not at all. Is it fair that Kyle Naughton is sent off for a good challenge? It'll get rescinded but the referee has possibly cost Swansea 3 points. All it needed was a video ref in a tv lorry outside to have a word in the ear of the ref and say wrong call. It is in that case detriment to the game, especially when technology can take away the element of human error. Sadly there's nothing of Nigel Owens use of the video ref in play at the RWC - a perfect example for football to follow.

I think there were quite a few poor examples in the RWC as well - especially early on, but it must be introduced in football to cut out the bloopers like the ones at Swansea. Reckon the refs would welcome it as well...they don't actually want to make bloopers.

Stuart Attwell and the goal that never was, Poll and the 3 YC's, Clattenberg and Nani's goal v Spurs etc etc. Easily resolved with a TMO.

Wasn't involved in Leicester's 18 yesterday... re-sign him once they're knocked out of the cup

Young Ben looking calm and collected this evening on MOTD live Class act. Really hope he's still at Leicester at the end of the window as we may have a stronger chance of him coming back on loan.

We've got 3 threads on the go discussing him this evening.
One is definitely inferior to the others!

Good player. Struggling a bit tonight, which is understandable given his age and experience.

Any reason why they didn't follow the Exeter game tonight? Maybe the PL pundits had exhausted their stock of patronising adjectives from the first game?
The TV companies must love being able to use the word 'postie' or 'bricklayer', thinking it makes them mindful that football is a working class game...

Guess the result tonight is the best chance of us getting him back. Fingers crossed

BBC definitely chose the right game. Exeter offered nothing.

Good player. Struggling a bit tonight, which is understandable given his age and experience. Eh - thought he was excellent, and looked the fittest player on the pitch. Think it would be hard to give him any blame for Son's goal - a worldie strike.

Fair enough, I was just flicking through the channels and the bit I caught he was getting turned inside-out a couple of times. He's going to be a very good player, no doubt.

Showed his strength well also in an incident shielding the bll out early second half. Surprised me with his strength for a small lad.

Must admit I only watched the second half but I think he got beat only once on the outside and the rest of his game was top notch. At least as good as the 3 other full backs on show.
