We'd have to break our transfer record to sign him, and he's not even close to being our player of the season in the opinion of most (see other thread).
Wagner doesn't seem to rate him that highly (would he have played the last couple if Billing had been fit?). Maybe he is one of the players Wagner has "taken as far as he can".

I wouldn't sign him. He'd have to have minimal wages and no transfer fee to persuade me to sign him. That isn't the case so I'd let him go back.
I never thought he was anything special when I'd seen him playing for other clubs anyway. Paterson and Van La Parra are 2 that I thought were good before they came here on loan.
We've had a good luck, there is no harm in that, but the end of the season should be the end of the road IMO.

Surely Wigan will keep hold of him with them coming back up, and with the parachute payments rolling in they will hardly be desperate for the cash.

DH made it entirely clear at the Q&A that Huws wouldn't be signed permanently. He's done OK for Town, outstanding at times, but given Billing's potential and the cost it would take to buy Huws in terms of salary and transfer fee, I wouldn't be upset if he left now.

Huws played ok yesterday I personally think Kyle Dempsey deserved the man of the match. Thought he was great attacking and defensively today Strange how we all see things so differently, I thought Dempsey looked like he was playing out of position (as he was), and thought it highlighted Smith's recent improvement.

It'd be nice if his right foot was there for a reason other than because boots come in pairs and whenever he receives the ball facing towards our goal he always turns the same way. A decent player but I wouldn't break the bank for him.

Part of the team that got them relegated then says he doesn't want to play for them in league one. To make it worse he was injured most of the time so got paid a lot money doing fuck all. Caldwell wasn't impressed I don't think

How many chances to shoot did he pass up yesterday because he had to get it onto his left and got crowded out by the time he managed to. Messi and Lolley would be a better comparison ;D Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

Obviously a player that divides opinion. I can see why he would not have wanted to play in League 1 given there were offers on the table for him to continue playing at Championship level and needed to play at that level to get into the Wales team for the Euro 2016 finals. Contrary to what they may have put out in the press it also served Wigan"n purposes of maintaining his profile and net worth by playing him in the Championship and the Euros. He has shown a great deal of ability and class and should make a good career for himself in the game. Best of luck to him and thank you for the contribution and the goals.(5 from 29 games as a defensive midfielder-not bad)

I thought he was awful today! cant believe so many believe he had a good game. Incredibly one-footed, kept fouling and must have given it away a dozen times.[/Qoute/ Awfull? you really havnt a clue. Huws had a good game yesterday and your statement shows your ignorance of the game. Dean says we want have him next season so we move on Curious, the people around me at the game thought he was poor too. The number of times he put his head in his hands. Yes, i think he can play a bit...but not yesterday. I am not "ignorant" of anything. Experience, intellect and pursuit of knowledge nullify ignorance. Whitehead was great first half, rubbish the second. Most had decent games..thought Wells was poor and Hudson average as usual. The forum is opinions but i value mine over most peoples and certainly yours.

Good luck to the lad but I do not feel his future will be with Town. You never know, he may go to the Euro's with Wales, have a stormer and be snapped up by a big club for £££££'s

Hasnt Hoyle said we're not signing him anyway? too big a fee and wages.. non starter, no matter how he plays.. although trying to sign hudson again has left me a little bemused about where we are and what we are trying to do in terms of playing staff and tactics.. add hogg to that bemusement as well.. If the team on the pitch is going well then an 'expensive' bench isnt too much of a problem.. hudson/hogg/scannell on the bench is a fair few quid for us..

Do you honestly think DH would show his hand that easily, whatever his thoughts are on Huws. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

Do you honestly think DH would show his hand that easily, whatever his thoughts are on Huws. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors. think it means that Huws has a deal ready and waiting somewhere else that we wouldnt try to compete with..Patterson is a ongoing thing so honesty being the best policy seems appropriate on this. sometimes you know early on that you just are not in the running, wether you wish to be or not.. bit daft to try and keep us some odd subtifuge about players you are not going to even compete for?

I thought he could play at this level and do well enough, in a better team he might do very well.. much more interested in us keeping paterson..

I think he is worth pushing the boat out for, I wouldn't have a problem making him our record signing.
Spend 2M on him and receive at least double that after another 12 months with Wagner.

I'd take him if they offered him on a season long loan again.

In a word NO It would require a fee betwenn 1.5 -2 m and his wages are 20k/week. Not consistently good enough to command an overall deal that would be around 5-6 m on a 3yr contract.

His wage would have to be half that if not less otherwise we would never have been able to afford the loan deal in the first place.

If we are not signing him then why do we continue to play him? Billing should start the last two games and maybe have Booty on the bench as cover.

Maybe Wagner feels BIlling can learn a thing or two by watching Huws play.
