I wrote this in response to morley terriers patronising post on another thread... Gareth Jones has really wound me ( and other town fans it seems ) up It's okay Ted, Nick has saved the day. Please also see the following link that may be of use: www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/dab-car-stereos/sonichi-s100-digital-radio-adaptorYou can send an invoice in to Radio Leeds for them to pay for it (don't say I am not good to you). Morley .. you don't get it ... despite reading page after page you don't get it ... how many more times do people have to tell you dab on local radio is shit ? I've got town player I can listen in my car on the internet if I need .. but that's not the point ...I'm not all about me I care about other people and their woes... the point is town fans attended a match last Saturday and got back in their cars fully and reasonably expecting to drive home accompanied by some post match ... as has been the case year on year for as long as I remember ... Bradford ( who recently dumped RL and let's face it are a pretty poor second best in terms of an attraction ) not only had the most desirable FM frequency .. inexplicably they also had the second most desirable mw frequency .. so bcfc fans returning from their miserable drab inconsequential 0-0 bore draw could channel hop from FM to AM as John (mogadon) Hendrie tried to drum up some excitement .. whereas 70-80% of town fans .. without consultation or notice , were left to listen to pick of the pops .. in terms of local radio this was an outrage of the highest level .. and the guys patronising email has made things worse imo .. he has shown no regard or respect to a key part of his listenership.. I hope he gets what's due the smug prick Ted, may I remind you that it is okay for you to engage in a bit of tongue in cheek humour with others on here as I did with you re the link to the DAB accessories site (and indeed you pull them up where they respond such as you have here stating they lack a sense of humour). So come-on, you need to be able to take it in return and not be guilty of double-standards. Re the latter part of your mail, I will respond to your post on the other thread that states the same thing in due course.

And therein lies the problem ... MT if we had Radio Huddersfield that was a Huddersfield Radio station that 'spread its wings' and served such as Bradford, Halifax, Leeds etc. I would absolutely expect the Radio station to be biased towards Huddersfield Town. Thus my question, if it is a Leeds radio station, then what's the issue with them prioritising Leeds United!!??. if it is a Yorkshire station then the argument is completely different and again, why is it called BBC radio Leeds in that case?. Presumably linked to where there is a BBC studio based perhaps?. I'm not disputing this at all, Morley. I am actually AGREEING with you! The fact that it is called Radio Leeds shows which way it will always lean.

The TV studios are in Leeds but that's not called TV Leeds, it's called Yorkshire TV. Anyway DAB doesn't reach Holmbridge..well, randomly ..so what's tonight's game on, Mixlr ? (anybody)

Looks like I'm buying my old man a DAB radio for his birthday then Why don't you just buy him town player ? From the car coming back from games?

If he has a decent mobile town player can be accessed from the town square app or the website

In this case they weren't even prioritising Leeds, I cannot for the life in me understand the logic that led them to believe Bradford should receive priority on BOTH bands. No matter how BCFC like to dress it up the fact is that they are a smaller club with a smaller fanbase, less success and in a lower league, so even from a business point of view it made no sense to give them priority as the listening figures would have been far smaller.

The pennines aren't best served for 4g... Incidentally, does DAB suffer similar signal issues?

And who does the commentary... or is it simply Radio Leeds via the Town website?

Not sure what factors are at play RE dab signal but when I had a dab Walkman 10 years ago the signal was "in and out " ( that's being generous ) on all stations ... my home based dab (holmfirth ) works fine on most stations but radio Leeds has always been poor at best and non existent at worst .. to me the dab revolution has been a total let down .. maybe Gareth's mates could give us some lessons ?

It's OK folks, BBC Radio Leeds knew it would cause problems last weekend but they did it for our own good. Mr Jones has commented:
"We are very aware of the huge away game coming up at Newcastle on Saturday, when Town commentary will be on DAB (as all three of our WY clubs play at the same time).
We know it would be a disaster for Town fans to tune in all excited for Saturday's game on AM and then not hear it and have no time to solve the problem. By having Town on DAB v Brentford it has helped alert fans to this situation and gives them time to understand where Town will be this season and act according, if they wish too."
I presume a few warnings given out last week via the MW frequencies was considered to be ineffectual by the local BBC boffins. I hope they don't branch out into protective window shutters or we'd all have our windows put through before they came round to sell us some

Streuth, whilst I can see it's really pissing some folks off, it's not really the end of the world is it? Coming down from Stockton, I usually get bugger all on any station at all going back. I do have DAB, but cant be arsed to tune it in to Radio Leeds, only to lose it half way back up the A1(M) Even worse though, by the time you've got back to the car these days, I've generally missed all the results barring jockland on Radio 5 which does come through loud and clear on DAB. Not only that, they'll never be mentioned again either half the time, if its not the Olympics, it's bloody Rugby Union or cricket etc, followed by Claridge and co. and we never get a mention on there. If in the South Stand I rarely even find out the half times, as most of the time Internet connection is shite in the stadium. Her indoors can be very unimpressed when the first thing I do as I walk back through the door is check out the scores on the pc. Of course if I was a right arsehole, I could always check on the phone whilst driving along at 70mph or thereabouts.........I don't.

Lucky you!

actually the beeb should provide a service for town fans that 'all' town fans can at least attempt to try to listen to.

that is an utter cop out. why is it our problem to sort out a DAB radio (fwiw I have one) so i can listen to a service I'M PAYING FOR ALREADY?
Sort yourselves out BBC Radio Leedsunited.

'If they wish TOO' Lol. That's a professional journalist employed by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Probably says 'Should of' TOO. But seriously, what is he advocating by 'act accordingly if they wish to'? He's basically saying either accept it or get lost yeah?

No. DAB is still local for the local stations, so you'll still only get Radio Leeds in and around West Yorkshire. It does tend to have a lower coverage area as it's either on or off, unlike FM/AM which will continue but will be less audible until it cuts out completely once you're too far away. Quite so. I bought the wife a DAB radio last year which she runs in our kitchen. It doesn't pick up RL but does find BBC Radio Nottingham, and all points thereabouts. We have DAB in both the kitchen and the bedroom, neither pick up RL, we bought my dad a pocket DAB radio and that doesn't pick it up either Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards
