Listening to 5live 606 while in the car earlier. They were saying that Villa forked out £52m on players in the summer. Given they paid a few bob for McCormack it might well be true, but it did seem a little high overall. If it is true, it proves that you can easily throw cash at the wrong signings. Many on here will recall a few high cost failures here, but even accounting for inflation and how football has changed I wouldn't say it's as spectacular as Villa... It is true they spent over £50Million. £15M on Kodjia, £12M on McCormack, £8M on Chester, £5M on Tshibola, £4M on Jedinak, £4M on Gollini, £3M on Elphick and £2M on De laet. Adomah supposedly £5M. That equals closer to £60M by my calculations. However the net spend is more around half that after player sales.

If Town got promoted this season and those sort of signings happened, it would be like a re-make of the Dawn of the Dead, all of 'em wearing Town shirts...
